One of the things that some Hive users do not appreciate about the existence of an ecosystem like Hive with the free, decentralized applications at our disposal is the accessibility of platforms that you used to pay in the real world. 

As a website owner and operator, I have been writing for the past few decades, working on different projects and doing all my work in a centralized world, more popularly known as the Web2 space.

**Absent on Hive For Monetary Reasons**

For the past few months, I have been absent from posting articles on Hive and focused on projects that are more beneficial or, in other words, could bring food to my table. Although I earned some amounts using Hive and especially working with the DBuzz team, we are in challenging times nowadays. 

I last published a long-form post on Hive on February 11, 2024. Since then, I have tried my best, but writing from different platforms is daunting. I also tried to manage my personal news website, but there are things that are hard to maintain, and I wasn't able to renew my hosting, which costs me around $100.00 per month. 

Spending $100.00 per month on hosting alone is no longer beneficial for me; producing content for free on Web2 without having any ads on top of the website and relying only on donations provided by Chris when he was still managing DBuzz. It is indeed a challenge to maintain a website and pay some writers without any monetary profits in return; that's why I decided to focus on other things. 

This is the reality in the online world. If you want to make money online, you must make extra efforts and invest some money, but with Hive and DBuzz, you no longer have to worry about everything. If Hive users appreciate how lucky we are right now to have a platform or ecosystem that provides all the technicalities, hosting, and other stuff, and all they need is to write content, this could be a better world for everybody.

**Importance of Having a Free Platform to Post Content
**
I have been active on Hive since March 2023, consistently posting on DBuzz for my updates on everything under the sun. Chris Rice helped me bring my previous website back to life, and I have been posting on Web2 space for the past years with the help of DBuzz. 

For bloggers like me who have been earning some bucks online, it is a reality that making money online is challenging, especially with the advent of modern technologies and the proliferation of video vlogging platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. 

Having your own self-hosted website requires a lot of resources, time, and money. Some Hive users have been missing or not taking care of their Hive accounts, which also cost money to create. Having an ecosystem like Hive is a rare opportunity for content creators, but only a few are taking advantage of this opportunity.

As a blogger who started posting online content in 2010 with PhilNews.ph, I know for a fact how hard it is to build your presence online and how much effort is needed to build momentum aside from the fact that you need some amounts to pay for the hosting, domain, and other tools required to operate a self-hosted website.

**What's In Store for Us in the Future**

The What's Up DBuzz Show hosted by @guruvaj has been running for over a year since it started in 2023. This time around, we are making some changes to the show to provide more value to the community and bring back the energy. 

We are planning to discuss not only the latest developments on DBuzz, Hive, or Retzark but also some online opportunities, and we have made a decent lineup of what to discuss on the succeeding Sundays. I will share my experiences of making a living online after working as an OFW.
