I wanted to talk about how my Monday went today, because it really didn’t feel like the ideal start to the work week. Two of my colleagues were on sick leave and honestly, it felt more like Monday blues for them, since I didn’t see many people actually sick today.

That also meant the ones who showed up had to absorb all the workload. Not exactly the best situation for anyone who reported to work, and I was one of those who ended up feeling annoyed. It’s only the first day of the week, but it already felt like I was playing catch-up from the moment I logged in.

Because of the extra tasks and the rush to get things done, I ended up with a headache. At some point I just decided enough is enough for today, so I logged off earlier than usual. I didn’t want to force myself to push through when my body was already sending signals that I needed to rest.

There’s a quote by Anne Lamott that I really like: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” It reminded me that stepping back doesn’t mean I’m weak or lazy, it just means I’m choosing to take care of myself.

Tonight, I just want an early rest and a quiet reset. I’m hoping tomorrow will be better for my team, and that everyone shows up so the work is more balanced. Mondays may not always start great, but we still have the rest of the week to turn things around.
