Speed of Light Surpassed
Another blow to Einstein's special relativity has been struck, this time by scientists at CERN particle research center in Geneva, Switzerland. Antonio Ereditato, a spokesman for CERN, announced on Thursday that neutrinos accelerated from the facility have reached their destination in Italy 60 nanoseconds faster than the speed of light. This is the latest in experimental research that calls for a new approach to physics understanding. Published in 1905, special relativity is the basis for the Standard Model of Physics, which has been struggling to remain relevant in the face of overwhelming observation to the contrary. A key feature of special relativity is the consistency of light speed, and hopefully this news will not be swept under the rug by mainstream physics scientists desperate to hang on to their funding and illusions of expertise.

In a joint effort between CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider, and the Gran Sasso Lab in Italy, the OPERA experiment fired 15,000 neutrino beams between the two labs over three years. The neutrino beams were found to have covered the 500 mile distance in a shorter time period than the 2.4 thousandths of a second that light would need. The exact speed measured was 300,006 kilometers per second, edging out the speed of light by a tiny, but largely significant interval. The measurements are now being checked by other scientists worldwide.

Neutrinos are subatomic particles discovered in 1934 that are created by nuclear reactions or decay of radioactive materials. Able to pass right through most matter, the particles traveled through water and rock on their record-breaking journey. Millions of neutrinos from the sun are thought to pass through our bodies on a daily basis.

Many scientists are reluctant to accept any challenge to Einstein's model, since it's failure means that practically all modern physics will need to be re-evaluated. Many others, however, have advocated for an electrical model of the universe which is much more consistent with recorded cosmological observations.
