<p style="text-align: center" dir="center">La noche tiene un nombre preso en la garganta</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">tiene la diáspora la hemorragia de manos y ojos</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">clavados en el táctil, en el neón, la luz de los ceros y unos</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">a mansalva vienen las flores y se deshojan los pétalos</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">son como la muerte que yerra la presa, el zarpazo,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">el día tendrá ángel, lo sé por esta noche grávida</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">carga mi preñez de hombre enfermo y siniestrado</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">el día será imparcial, sin nubes, despejado</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">lo sé por la estadística que no miente,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">todo no puede ser desierto, nubes negras, casas solas</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">habrá un lugar donde vendan la felicidad,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">o quizás se encargue en el teléfono una tarde de picnic</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">que sea azul y el mantel a cuadros,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">los niños correrán como antaño, las manos desocupadas</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">las risas listas para la fotografía</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">los padres enamorados, o fingiendo que la cicatriz del último dolor de parto</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">no sea de noche, de noche el dolor muerde como el lobo</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">y la soledad planta en la puerta un sentimiento como de fin de mundo.</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">De noche hay un ente que me mira en el espejo,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">pero el dolor no se ciñe a las leyes de la óptica,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">solo fluye, allí donde no se puede comprar un veredicto</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">se empoza en el alma y luego sube al abdomen, al pecho y llueve en los insomnios</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">pensemos que todo estará bien, y que este parto génesis de la noche sea un mal sueño,</p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center">una pedrada en un techo distante, lejos de mi, solo un susto y punto.</p>

<p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>The night has a name trapped in the throat— it holds the diaspora, the hemorrhage of hands and eyes, pinned to the tactile, to the neon glow, to the light of zeros and ones.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>Flowers arrive in torrents, their petals falling apart, like death missing its prey, missing the strike of the claw.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>The day will have an angel—I know it because this night is heavy with omen, it bears the pregnancy of a sick and broken man.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>The day will be fair, cloudless, clear— I know it by the statistics that never lie. Not everything can be desert, black clouds, empty houses.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>There must be a place where happiness is sold, or perhaps ordered over the phone, for a picnic afternoon—blue skies, a checkered cloth, children running like they used to, idle hands, laughter ready for the photograph.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>Parents in love—or pretending that the scar from the last labor pain doesn’t still ache in the night. At night, pain bites like a wolf, and loneliness plants a sign at the door that reads: world’s end.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>At night, something stares at me from the mirror, but pain doesn’t obey the laws of optics— it just flows, settles deep in the soul, then rises to the abdomen, to the chest, and pours down in bouts of insomnia.</em></p><p style="text-align: center" dir="center"><em>Let us believe everything will be fine, that this night-born genesis is just a bad dream, a stone thrown on a distant rooftop— far from me— just a scare, nothing more.</em></p>
