A few hours ago I stumbled across an unusual post that raises something interesting about this curious dilemma that left me thinking for a while on this peculiar subject. 

This particular [post](https://hive.blog/hive-186377/@yonnathang/en-busca-de-respuestas--esto-no-deberia-ocurrir-en-hive) I stumbled across is written entirely in Spanish. But it makes reference in continuity to trying to solve the problem posed from another [article](https://hive.blog/blog/@miguelmederico/esto-no-deberia-ocurrir-en-hive-or-this-should-not-happen-on-hive) that was originally written in a bilingual format in both Spanish and English.

It is evident and more than notorious for absolutely the entire users community on the platform, the *particular* preferential bias and nepotism that is observed in the behavior of whales, orcas and "curation" projects *(either with their own HP stake or delegated)* at the time to vote *(curate)* and distribute in a fair and meritorious manner the hive tokens accumulated daily in the collective rewards pool on content creation. Either in a truly manual and organic way or in blindly automated fashion.

And this is precisely what these articles, that I have stumbled upon, are talking about and trying to discuss and solve asap. Although this is and has always been a **notorious** and constant problem since the very birth of this **"social network"** on the blockchain. The truth is that very few people over the years have dared to make the deserved criticism & fair complaint **public** for fear of reprisals, being frowned upon or losing the little support that they have achieved with great effort during their stay on the platform. Let's see some outstanding elements that these posts raises:

1. The perniciously negative effect that this biased, nepotic and unfair "curation" practice has on the retention of the existent active users on the platform.

2. In the same way, the perniciously negative effect that this biased, nepotic and unfair "curation" practice has also on the attraction of new users and investors into the platform and try to keep them still interested in continuing learning and participating with the same initial enthusiasm with which they registered.

3. The overwhelmingly obvious loss of true talent and authentic **quality content** on the platform because those users who still decide to stay in the ecosystem despite witnessing these outrageous "curation" practices, they suddenly see themselves propelled and forced to give up showing their true talents creating content about what they really love and know the best. To start rather posting the same kind of bland content and nonsense that they see being better rewarded on the platform given that their true virtuosity, skills and content is very little or not appreciated at all. Hence, they abstain from sharing it anymore.

I've already written countless times before about this same problem. *Although certainly in my always [**seriously**](https://hive.blog/humor/@por500bolos/new-year-s-resolutions-when-you-craft-a-story) sarcastic, cryptic, ironic and humorous style.* And you see how it has gone and continues to go to me in this platform despite being me one of the few active users with the longest time on this "social network" that rewards its users for their content. **Sixty-five months to be more precise.** https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://board.freeones.com/images/freeones/smilies/eek.gif

And nonetheless, in all this time I bet you have never seen me changing my critical, rebellious and heretical way of being to say the truths as I see them and when & how they need and have to be said.

Neither will you have seen me change the type of *defiant* content I post just to please someone or to get better monetary rewards from the whales, orcas and opulent "curation" projects on the platform. Of course, fortunately my content has always been very diverse and varied about multiple subjects. And it still is.

But despite of the fact that I also have multiple talents and also my own economic crises and financial problems. I never betray myself or to my scarce and select audience by giving up what I know how to do best and opting to go the other way in pursuit of nothing but better monetary rewards posting just makeup tutorials, cooking recipes, game or movie reviews, *where I have been or have not,* revealing matters of my personal life, extolling developments and things exclusive of the Hive platform and talking all day long only about finances, cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology and other such nonsense that certainly are the best rewarded.

As you see, everyone always wraps up themselves as far as the blanket reaches. And this is totally understandable. And of course this does not mean that I do not agree with what my two countrymen criticize and denounce in their articles at this time.

On the contrary, I really celebrate and I am extremely happy that someone else dares to raise their voice and expose this problem to general scrutiny which for me has been clearly detrimental for the long-awaited happy growth of the platform.

As I said before, this is a **notorious** problem that has been happening in our exquisite "social network" since its birth. Simply, because that is how have been established the "rules of coexistence" written in the **code** that governs it.

And since those who wrote, write and update the code are **human.** And all of us who use and make life in this digital creation of a "**social** network" on the blockchain are also human. Well, it is just logical that this digital environment also comes impregnated with all the vices, corruption, wickedness, wrongdoings, immorality and unethical behavior from which all humans suffer.

And although I suppose that it is already clear for everyone that these human vices and virtues have always been present in this DPoS "social network" project on the blockchain from the beginning. In which only the largest monetary capital & investment, the highest HP stake, the whales and the orcas of which we currently have barely a dozen of them left on the platform that can make a measurable difference in the distribution of rewards *and they are too few.* The fair distribution problem tends to be more visible, noticeable and apparently more difficult to solve.

From where in fact Hive was born, **inheriting its code and rules of coexistence.** At that time there was a greater number and variety of opulent users, whales and orcas with high stake who voted and rewarded a greater and diverse variety of content. And even though there were also the inevitable rings of circlejerks, elitist lodges and biased preferences to reward with greater enthusiasm only to their cronies, asskissers, toothless servitude and docile collaborators. Certainly it was much more difficult to pin down this trend and human defect of rewarding only friends better. *Simply because there were more of them.*

So from the recent complaint of my countrymen. I realize that the problem probably has arisen again and is now accentuated by the simple fact that some privileged users in the Spanish speaking community have recently been hired by a few wealthy users in the Hive blockchain to manage and use their high HP,  at their own criterion and "delegated" discretion, in content "curation" on their behalf and benefit without monitoring or supervising much how said stake is being used.

But hey, all this stuff that I've written so far  is not what I really wanted to highlight in this post today. But rather take you through a mysterious journey and enigmatic mental exercise of **"¿What Ifs?"** as the catchy title of this article insinuates.

# So without further delay, let's get to work.
- *Have you ever wondered what would happen if there were no "Curation" rewards in Hive through content consumption or by simply voting a post?*

- *That the monetary rewards within the platform could only be earned exclusively through the **creation** of content and not by consuming it or giving it a vote/like?*

- *Do you think that then Hive would only become into a kind of philanthropic platform in the style of Patreon or similars without the slightest interest for investors, lazy money & a vulture's mindset of earning dividends with no effort?*

Yeah, I could continue elaborating questions. But I suspect that only these three are enough for you to get a close idea of where I am going in search of your comments.

I suspect the lack of "content curation" rewards shouldn't affect in anything the investments or money injection for the development of second layer DApps on the Hive blockchain. Or the attractiveness of investing capital in a digital platform based on the blockchain that offers and promises censorship resistance. Immutability, privacy and transparency in the transactions carried out. Financial operations peer to peer of only three seconds and without fees through easy-to-remember accounts and wallets and the authentic ownership of their actions and endeavors. Isn't it?

Apart as it is already the case. True investors in Hive can also get a very high ROI from their monetary investment through the multiple DeFi platforms that already run on it as well as the new emerging NFT projects and **several** gaming platforms that are so popular and in fact are the ones that actually attract and onboard the utmost number of new users into the ecosystem. **¿Why would they not invest?**

Would you say and reckon Hive wouldn't be able to grow and attract new investments and capitalist users if the earnings & profits from "content curation" suddenly disappeared? Okay.
