<liketuimages> <center> .png) </center> </liketuimages> Humans are social beings and Hive is a social media platform. Therefore engagement on Hive is very important. If I were to compare Hive with Facebook, of course, the level of engagement at Facebook is much higher. However, on Facebook, I don't earn a cent and my personal data gets stolen. And on Youtube, you will not get the kind of personal engagement that you get on Hive. A lot of posts by Hivers are personal in nature where they share their daily life experiences. You can a glimpse of what is happening in their lives and learn more about them such as their likes and dislikes and their approach towards life in general. For those that I interact for a longer time, I consider them my online friends even though I had not met them in person. For example, I know that @justinparke an American in Cambodia has just shifted from a rented one-room apartment that he shares with his wife and two daughters to a new house by a stream. He writes about his house moving experience and the current renovations to his house. The daily commute to his daughters' school is a problem as it is both time-consuming and costly to make a 50km trip each way. I also enjoyed reading stories by @watusiwoman who lives in a boat with her husband. Her carefree lifestyle and her adventures of exploring the seas and various islands have captivated me. We joked about my love of eating chicken feet. @coloringiship is an artist who lives in Kuala Lumpur with her family. She shares the art pieces and NFTs that she had created as well as about life in Kuala Lumpur. She is now looking for another apartment to rent due to some issues with irresponsible neighbors. These are just a few of the Hivers that I interact with on a regular basis. And if any of them were to come to Kuching, I would be most happy to show them around and bring them for a meal. Usually, I do not only read and vote posts but I do take the time to leave comments as well. On a normal day, I will write 10-20 comments. I do know what it feels like to put in so much time and effort to write a post only to see low earnings. Presently the value of my vote is not that much. But by leaving a comment, I want the writer to realize that I appreciate the time and effort taken in writing the post. I see my comments as an encouragement to continue to produce quality content on Hive. And quality content is what will drive Hive forward. It is great that we have diversified communities on Hive catering to so many different interests, needs, and demographics. So now on Hive, we not only interact with other Hivers but also with communities as a whole. As communities comprise like-minded Hivers, engagement is a breeze. One of the ways that I love engaging with communities is by taking part in the various challenges or contests organized by the different communities. Sometimes I am at a loss on what to write and one way to solve this problem is to take part in challenges. These are some of the contests that I have taken part on a daily basis. In fact, I am taking part in one now which is the #weekend-engagement by @galenkp. I love the down-to-earth topics given by @galenkp which are so easy to write about. In addition, for each week we are given a choice of topics to choose from. On Sundays, I usually take part in the #beautifulsunday by @ace108 and #sublimesunday by @coff33a. The #wenesdaywalk by @tattoodjay and #makemesmile by @elizacheng collaboration allows me to visit virtually places of interest all over the world. The Silver Bloggers Community organizes a #BOM (Blog Of Month) on a, you guess it, monthly basis. On Fridays, there are in fact two challenges that I take part. One is the #ZapFicFriday by @freewritehouse where I get to write a short story of exactly 50 words based on a prompt provided. The other is the #marketfriday by @dswigle where I can learn about the cultures of other countries. I am also a poet and I loved writing poems. Therefore I also take part in the #blockchainpoetsweeklypromptchallenge organized by the Blockchain Poets community. I just finished taking part in the #hiveblopomo (Hive Blog Posting Month) by @traciyork where I had successfully written a post each day for the month of April. In fact, this challenge has ended but until today I managed to maintain my momentum and have continued to write a post a day. May I be inspired to continue this practice. Ever since I retired, I have spent more time on Hive and this has now become my daily routine. It was not easy adjusting to retirement but through Hive, I can still contribute to society by sharing my positive stories. # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # The Weekend Engagement The weekend engagement is a challenge created by @galenkp. It is a fun contest where you can write about a range of topics with a prompt provided. I like to take part because I get a lot of interactions with other hive members and you don't have to crack your head to think of what to write. @galenkp is also the founder of the [Weekend Community](https://ecency.com/created/hive-168869). # ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [Follow me]( https://hive.blog/@positivesteem) and stay positive.
