One thing I’m very sure that everyone hates is having regrets. I doubt there is anyone on the face of the earth that enjoys regrets and that is why we always try to avoid anything that puts us in a situation where we find ourselves regretting doing whatever it is we just did. Unfortunately, some of us don’t even know that we would end up regretting what we’re doing until we’ve done it.

A good example is a bad relationship. I doubt many of us would have dated the people we once dated if we had foreseen the future and saw how terrible of a mistake that decision will later turn out to be. Because the same way we all hate regrets, is the same way we all hate heartbreaks and that is why I for one always try to think ahead and avoid anything that might cause me to regret in the future.

The reason why I’m talking about regrets today was because of something that happened earlier on today. You see, for some time now we’ve not had any power supply, so the only way we get to charge our phones and gadget is when someone puts on his or her generator and then we go over to their place to charge our stuff.

At my hostel, we have this one guy who always turns on his generator at least once a day. The guy had placed a charging socket outside of his room in other to avoid people knocking on his door every time they wanted to charge, so now all we do whenever his generator is on is come with our charger and plug it on that outside socket without disturbing him.

Well today, a female friend of mine was leaving for school when she asked me to help watch over her sister’s phone that she had plugged outside. The reason was because phones do get missing from time to time when there’s no one watching over it, so when she asked me to help keep watch, I understood why but then I had told her that I wasn’t staying outside either, I had only come out to check on something and was about going inside.

I had also asked her that why doesn’t she just take the phone inside since she was going out but she had said that the phone wasn’t charged enough and that was when the thoughts about regrets came to me. She was willing to risk getting her sister’s phone stolen just because she wanted it to charge, a decision that she clearly would regret later if anything happened to the phone, so I asked her a question.

I said “Isn’t it better for your sister to have a phone with a low battery that she can always charge some other time rather than her not have a phone at all?”

That question had obviously made a lot of sense to her because the next thing she did without even replying me was pick up her sister’s phone and then took it inside and that was the best move because she might not know it, but what she just did was prevent herself from having regrets about the phone in the future.
