Red Flags
A lot of people make the mistake of dating people even before they know them well and it's surprising. You'd think it's common sense for people to at least get to know the person they plan to be in a relationship with very well before they go ahead to actually be in a relationship with that person, it turned out it's not common sense because some people actually don't.

Yesterday, we practically stopped a lady from stabbing another lady in our hostel, all because of her boyfriend. What happened was that the other lady (let's call her Sandra) needed a place to stay for a couple of days because she had some things she was trying to get sorted out over here and didn't want to pay for a hotel seeing how she had a friend who stays around here.

So she had called her friend, my neighbour (let's call him Frank) and asked if she could stay with him for a few days. Frank had asked his girlfriend who was staying with him (let's call her Jessica) if she was cool with Sandra coming over to which she said yes. So Frank called Sandra and gave her the greenlight to come over.

Well, after a day of Sandra staying with the couple, Jessica started to feel jealous even though Frank wasn't doing anything to make her feel that way. We his neighbours had no idea about what was going on until Frank's girlfriend lost it. She began to threaten Sandra and her boyfriend, Frank.

She insisted on Sandra moving out of her boyfriend's home immediately or she was going to do something they both were going to regret. Sandra tried pleading with her but she refused and then Sandra agreed to leave but Frank refused. His annoyance was that Jessica had initially agreed to Sandra staying over, so why the sudden change of heart.

He was pissed because Sandra was a good friend of his and his girlfriend wasn't only embarrassing him, she was also threatening to ruin the relationship he has built with her over the years.

All of them were loud now and the attention of everyone had been drawn towards what was happening but we all didn't say a word because we all knew it's never a good thing getting involved when two lovers are having issues, so we tried minding our business. But we eventually got involved when Jessica picked up a knife and locked herself and Sandra inside the room.

Scared that she could do something really bad, we all got involved and tried calming her down while asking her to open the door. It took a while, but she eventually did open the door and Sandra came out unharmed before leaving later that evening because she was feeling really guilty for being the reason both of them were fighting.

Frank was really pissed at this point and he was ready to end things with Jessica (and was probably going to hit her) but we the guys had pleaded with him to take things easy with her and talk things through instead.

Witnessing all of that made me wonder if Frank didn't know the kind of lady Jessica was before he asked her to date him or he saw all of those red flags and still decided to ignore it and date her anyways.

I say red flags because after what happened yesterday, Frank began to tell us about all the things she had done in the past and we were all surprised he was still with her. But what was even more shocking to me was the fact that I saw them this morning, all lovey dovey and that reminded me why it's never a good idea to get involved when couples are fighting, the only time you should involve yourself is when they're threatening to get physical with each other.

Anyways, I know we can't always know all their characters by just going out on a few dates with them, but you really shouldn't hesitate to end a relationship once you see too many red flags.
