Just rolling on down the road . . . . and **BANG** - The windshield cracks! Must have been that deep pothole I went over! I have never had that happen to me before. That's the pitfalls of motoring in U.K.
Over the next couple of miles, the 6 inch fracture slowly creeps across the windscreen like a bead of water seeking a downhill route. Back at base, the fracture is now 2 foot long. **Time to replace it!**.
One insurance call, a couple of hours and a £75 excess. Two guys turn up. That took them literally 5 minutes to take out!

The replacement, which i am told costs £180, is prepared, cleaned with some sort of glass cleaner and ready to go. The old sealant was stripped and then new sealant applied. Then, it was just a case of pushing the glass into place and replacing the hood. Bingo . . . . Done!

They are obviously used to doing it, considering it was their job, but nevertheless, i was impressed.
A bit of Q&A with the fitters . . . apparently the hardest vehicles to do a windscreen replacement on, is a convertable!
They said it takes around 30 minutes before it was ready to drive and that it takes a full 7 days for the sealant to fully set.
I could have done without that incident, but that's life! We never know what is around the bend!
