NOTHING IS ENTIRELY WRONG
Great Minds,
I read through a steemian post @udochi condemning the paying of bride price and calling for it's abolishment. Consequent upon this I am constrained to write this post. What I observed from his post was that first he was not happy with it because the man has to pay huge sum of money and items and secondly he then sees it as trading the bride since it involves exchange of money and item. Well careful analysis reveals his anger erupted from the amount of money involved .considering his areas of emphasis within the post.
But you you can not just conclude and condemn a thing or an activity simply because you don't like it or you have a thing against it. As a matter of fact he concluded that it is archaic, slavery and condemned it intoto.

But this was the tradition so cherished by many and young people looked forward to it. In fact those who for any reason mixed it are considered irresponsible. For bride pride payment serves as a means of respect, honour and call for the blessings from both parents. If this is true, why should anyone called kg for it's abolishment. It means something is perhaps wrong which to me I spotted the amount of money and items involved in some part of the country (Nigeria in particular).

WHAT IS YOUR POINT OF ARGUMENT?

like the topic suggest, nothing is entirely wrong. You can put it conversely, that nothing is entirely right. There is always little gap for improvement. What you see as wrong and condemn, others may admire it and clamour for it's stay. It all boils down on your point of arguments. What makes you detest it, why is it wrong in your sight? C as you pinpoint what is wrong in it. Pause a bit and try and reason with the opposite view..Dont be conclusive and don't be judgemental. Have an open mind and always remember that nothing is entirely wrong.

There are actually three factors to determining the extent of wrong or right.

The persons involve. If you are not incline to thing. If you don't like an idea, you are likely going to see is at wrong idea. If you don't like the person that brings the idea, you are like to see it as wrong. Just on the surface without looking at the ingredients of the idea.

The thing or activity involved. Certain event annoys some person and as such they conclude that it is wrong without even finding out the contents. Earlier today some people were arguing seriously about Big Brother Naira. Some see it as entirely wrong and should be stopped forthwith while others enjoyed it so much and are ready to give their best to see to its success.

Another point that makes people suggest an activity/thing is wrong or right is the prevailing circumstances. Some activities can be very interested ab initio but suddenly can be seen as wrong if the contents for instance turn out different from expectations. Just like the bride price earlier discussed, just because of the fact that the person coming into it is poor or doesn't have enough money at the moment he wished to marry. That prevailing circumstances at that moment can make him see it as a wrong culture.

In all always make little effort to look at the other view of it. Don't be in a haste to conclude that is wrong or right. Listen to another person's view perhaps you will see the missing point in your argument and that can save you loads.

Live sweet and enjoy life
