 <p><strong>Is it safe to store my funds on an online exchange?</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong> </strong>Unless you have thousands of dollars in your portfolio, there's nothing to worry. If you have more than say $500 and you worry about losing them I'd suggest spread them across two exchanges (ex: Binance and Poloniex)</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p><strong>I have thousands of dollars in crypto, should I store my funds on an online exchange?</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong> </strong>Unless you want to trade in them you can buy a hardware walllet and transfer your funds into it. (ex: trezor). If you plan to trade in other coins frequently, you should have them on an online exchange or pay fees everytime you transfer your funds to and from your hardware wallet.</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p><strong>I have plans for a long term investment in Bitcoins, and I do not want to(or simple do not know) store my coins on a hardware wallet. </strong></p> <ul> <li>You can transfer your funds to a paper wallet(literally a piece of paper with your coin's private keys printed on it) and store the paper wallet in a secure place, away from damp, moisture and fire. (ex: Buy BTC from zebpay or coinome and transfer them to these exchanges)</li> </ul> <p><strong>What is BId/ask option on every exchange?</strong></p> <ul> <li> The bid price represents the maximum price that a buyer is willing to pay for a coin/security.</li> <li> The ask price represents the minimum price that a seller is willing to receive. </li> <li>A trade or transaction occurs after the buyer and seller agree on a price for the security.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How are fees decided on an exchange?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Most of the exchanges decide trade fees on a price maker-taker model. You'll see something like this on the fee section of your exchange( fee: 0.1/0.3)</li> <li> A trade gets the taker fee if the trade order is matched immediately against an order already on the order book, which is removing liquidity. A trade gets the maker fee if the trade order is not matched immediately against an order already on the order book, which is adding liquidity. </li> </ul> <p><strong>What is limit-order and stop loss option on my trade tool box?</strong></p> <ul> <li> A stop order is commonly used in a <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/articles/stocks/09/use-stop-loss.asp">stop-loss strategy</a> where a trader enters a position but places an order to exit the position at a specified loss threshold. For example, if a trader buys a stock at $30 but wants to limit his or her losses by exiting at a price of $25, he or she enters a stop order to sell at $25. The stop order triggers if the stock falls to $25, at which point the trader's order becomes a market order and is executed at the next available bid. If I knew this I'd be sitting with Mia khalifa right now. </li> <li>Try to read the chart.</li> <li>Analyse the buy/sell orders.</li> <li>Detect buy/sell wall</li> <li>Study technical analysis.</li> <li>Make a prediction. </li> </ul> <p>Things will not be true always but with your practice and experience, you shall learn. I know a lot of guys that do TA and call. Most of the time they're correct. </p> <p><br></p> <p><strong>What are the other things that might help me in this cryptospace?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Get into legit facebook groups and other forums where you meet like-minded people to discuss things.</li> <li>Read news related to crypto and Bitcoin.( Bitcoin is the sun, every crypto revolves around Bitcoin)</li> <li>Try trading on a piece of paper and see the number of times you pick up the right coin(if you're trying to short coin or be a day trader)</li> <li>Mobile apps like Blockfolio can help you track your portfolio on the go. </li> <li>Try to spread your Portfolio with 3-5 coins. Spreading more than that can prove to be risky as you need to keep a track of each coin you hold. <em>A hen never leaves her eggs unattended!</em></li> <li>Enable 2-factor authentication everywhere. On your email account too. </li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p><strong>Things that I should stay away from?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Of course, lots of things in this space is harmful.</li> <li>Stay away from calls or anyone says xyz coin will go up.</li> <li>Stay away from unknown people texting you about crypto and especially when they're being over friendly. </li> <li>Stay away from pump and dump groups.</li> <li>Don't try to get into a running train, never run for a coin that is rising very quickly. Wait for it to stabilize.</li> <li> Using of torrents or downloading of any malicious application into your device where you trade your funds. Especially when you hold larger amounts.</li> </ul> <p><br></p> <p>Glossary :</p> <p>HODL : Holding a coin for a longer period; basically ignoring the temporary fluctuations.</p> <p>FOMO : Fear of missing out.</p> <p>PnD : Pump and dump.</p> <p>To the Moon : Price is rising.</p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p> </html>
