Krautfleckerl are a dish of Austrian, Bohemian and Croatian cuisine. The main ingredients are Fleckerl, a traditional kind of pasta, and white cabbage and one of my favorite dishes in the cold season. Simple, inexpensive and good - that's what generations of us have appreciated about this old Austrian specialty. Not that much can go wrong. Only when caramelizing you should be careful that they are not too dark. Winter vegetables instead of citrus fruits What keeps you healthy in the cold season? Nowadays, most of them resort to citrus fruits, which are abundant in the supermarket. But we should not forget the old vitamin suppliers, the winter vegetables! Personally, the cabbage stains with fresh cabbage taste the best. But you can also take the stored winter herb well, depending on the season. Anyway, they are quickly finished and taste delicious. This Viennese specialty originally came from Bohemian - like so much in Viennese cuisine. According to an anecdote by the Viennese writer Friederich Torberg, the cabbage stains are best when there is a trace of them less than the hunger of the guests ... ### ...and now for the recipe ### you need the following few ingredients: *** * 1 cabbage head * 1 onion * 1 tablespoon of sugar * Salt, pepper * 1 tbsp caraway whole * 60 g rapeseed oil *** * 500 g Fleckerl ### preparation: Halve the herb, remove the stalk and the coarse outer leaves. Now cut the herb with a knife into fine strips or use a cabbage slicer. Finely chop the onions and enjoy a banana by the way LOL Put the oil and the onion in a large saucepan and roast the onions for 2-3 minutes. Add the sugar and caramelize. Add cabbage, cumin, salt and pepper and stir. With the lid closed, simmer for about 30 minutes until the cabbage has a golden brown color. In between stirring often and if necessary with a little water or vegetable broth pour. Simmer enough salted water in a saucepan and cook the Fleckerl al dente. Strain, briefly wash cold and drain well. Add the boiled mash to the cabbage and stir. Season with salt and pepper. ### Serve warm! ### Bon appetite!
