Recently, the CIA got ahead of schedule and completed an initial upload of over 13 million documents spread over 800,000 files. Among those files is Project Stargate, a series of studies surrounding psychic phenomena conducted by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and later transferred to the CIA. The project covered a range of phenomena, from remote viewing and astral projection to telepathy and psychokinesis. 

For this post we will focus on Remote Viewing or, more specifically, Coordinate Remote Viewing (CRV). While the program has purportedly since been shuttered there is still valuable information that, until now, has been withheld. 

This post is intended to propagate the information contained in the upload and not as an opinion piece. 

## Definitions

It is important to have a basic vocabulary regarding what the texts term "Psychoenergetic Phenomena", and since Remote Viewing is the most covered phenomena, let's start there.

##### Basic Definition of Remote Viewing (DIA)

Remote Viewing is separated into three methodologies:
* Coordinate Remote Viewing (CRV)
* Written Remote Viewing (WRV)
* Extended Remote Viewing (ERV)

The bulk of the information centers around CRV. This method involves sharing a set of coordinates with the "viewer" and then recording what the "viewer" can see or sense about the location. The success of this methodology helped shaped a training program that would allow *anyone* to become a remote viewer, and so this post will focus on CRV as the oft used method, but may later revisit WRV and ERV. 

# Basic Theory of CRV

In CIA file CIA-RDP96-00789R001300010001-6 an outline is presented which explains the "very logical" way CRV works. Though they concede that many questions regarding the theory still remain unanswered, it is bluntly stated that "the stuff works".  How? Here's a quick breakdown:

* In an unknown part of the mind exists something they simply label "the Matrix". The following illustration helps us visualize and understand what they mean:

* The 'patterns' have their own specific energy which is emitted in what is called a "signal line". Another way they suggest considering the 'patterns' is as a "Thought Ball" or "gestalt":

Essentially, when a "viewer" is given a set of coordinates within "the Matrix" they are picking up on energy tied to a specific place in space-time, otherwise known as a "pattern". Once they have connected with the "pattern," they begin to examine the pattern, and the associated patterns therein, based on one of their six stages of training. 

So what is this training and how does it help them perform Coordinate Remote Viewing more reliably?

# Training and Improvement

According to file CIA-RDP96-00788R001500110031-1 the six stage training procedure uses the most promising techniques in RV up until that point to design a program to help produce reliable results more consistently. 

Through training of these stages, participants can create and strengthen cognitrons. But what the heck are cognitrons? The example in the SRI (Stanford Research Institute) paper made it click for me almost instantly, so I will quote them here instead of paraphrasing:

So just like hitting the gym and building up those biceps *over time,* a "viewer" can practice to develop cognitrons that will later help them achieve better and more reliable results. The SRI paper illustrates the average learning curve during the training of the six stages, making a point to say that each stage must be fully trained before moving on to the next:

Just what are these six stages of Remote Viewing? It starts with connecting with the "pattern," but then what? The stages start at 1 (most general information) and progress to 6 (most specific information)

Based on the above, each level of training helps create and strengthen cognitrons that allow for easier "access" next time the "viewer" performs. So upon completion of stage 1, cognitrons should have been formed that will allow the "viewer" to more easily achieve stage 1 in the future, much in the same way that the technique in mastering a jump shot in basketball can be later summoned at will. 

# Putting it all Together

Now with a firmer understanding of RV we can put together all the pieces that make up the Remote Viewing phenomenon, as understood by those at SRI, and as believed by the DIA/CIA. 

As far as I understand:

* A viewer is given a set of coordinates. All coordinates exist within the "Matrix" (which, itself, contains all information in existence) and emit specific energy signatures that can be perceived, with training. 
* The coordinates help them connect to the Signal Line or "pattern" of energy that exists as that spot.
* The energy of the Signal Line affects the Autonomic Nervous System of the viewer, who then begins to produce information in response. This information can be spoken or written or drawn.

# Conduits/Channels & "Physical Inclemencies"

SRI notes that because we are dealing with pure energy that is being drawn from the unconscious mind, we must be cognizant of the physical and/or limiting factors that exist. The information pulled from this unconscious source must process through limen thresholds in what are called "conduits" or "channels". 

The conduits or channels that lead from our unconscious mind to our awareness exists in different quantities in different people, and it is through these that we can perceive the information coming to us.

Towards that end, the SRI notes that it is important to keep these conduits clear, meaning that all work done in remote viewing should be done under certain circumstances. For example, if a viewer is hungry, sick, in survival mode, etc., the channels from the subconscious to the awareness would be considered clogged or obstructed. Remote Viewing done under these conditions will yield little to no results. 

# Conclusion 

So far, my data dumpster diving has made me feel vindicated. I heard about Remote Viewing back in the 90's when the Internet was nothing like it is today. I remember reading accounts of participants Remote Viewing other planets like Mars, and my youthful mind was blown away. My social circles back then all labeled me a "conspiracy theorist" who sounded as though he came right out of "X-Files". I learned over time to not easily share these thoughts with others as they seemed interested in only mocking the ideas. 

With this new access to these documents I'm not so sure those detractors of mine weren't actually the conspiracy theorists, peddling a theory that there is nothing more to reality than what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste.
