What kind of weirdos celebrates Christmas in January? Can you imagine something like that? Well imagine no more because I'm about to show you how celebrating Christmas in January looks. Spoiler alert; it's exactly the same as celebrating Christmas in December. Who would have known! This year we decided to celebrate Christmas in January because my dad has been working two Christmases in a row. He works offshore for four weeks at a time and doesn't really have control over when he's home or when he's out. The shipping company tries to their best extent to make sure people don't work two Christmases in a row but it doesn't always work out. When this happens you work around it, get creative, and celebrate Christmas in January! --- # Christmas dinner! In Norway the prime standard of Christmas dinners are pork ribs og lamb ribs. There's almost a feud between people as to which one is best. Some families just make both because both of those dishes are just amazing. Both dishes pretty much use the same accessories so why not? But this is Christmas in January so we have to do it different. We had turkey! Our family tradition is to have turkey for new years eve but since no one celebrated new years together this year it was skipped. We all had had the ribs at out different celebrations so it was decided to kinda fuse new years and Christmas. It was a Christmas themed celebration with new years turkey. This dinner was so good I feel like I could have burst by the end. My dad makes a killer gravy and he didn't disappoint at all. The turkey was slow cooked in the oven for 18 hours so it was real tender and juicy. Combine all of this with a delicious mushroom and bacon stew and you got yourself a perfect meal. --- # Gifts! No Christmas without gifts, am I right? As I mentioned we had all celebrated Christmas apart so most of the gifts were already opened. The gifts under the tree this time was mostly gifts from those present alongside some stragglers. Still, when eight people are gifting each other back and forth it turns into a lot. Me and @emuse had the least amount of gifts to open to open and that's just as good. We don't want gifts unless it's something we've wished for or need. Random things just gets stowed away or sold anyways so what's the point? We didn't gift anything between us this year either and instead booked us a trip to Copenhagen in March. We did however get a little bit og an haul. We got an awesome carafe which we needed since @emuse broke our last one. We got some board games to have fun with as well as some smaller separate gifts. The big winner was an awesome complete set of kitchen knives from my dad, stepmom and siblings. Made from Japanese 7CR17 stainless steel these bad boys will be assisting us in the kitchen for many years to come. I didn't give many gifts this Christmas. I'm mostly trying to tone down the amount of gifts I'm both giving and receiving. I keep the gifts to my closest family members. Everyone in extended family have been told to not buy us stuff just to buy stuff and that we won't be giving anything to them either. I got my sister some clothes that she liked, my brother who just turned 18 got some money and my parents get to choose a restaurant for us to go out to where I'll treat them. I also gifted my grandma a cheese holder that keeps her cheeses fresh in the fridge as well as some cured sausages of different tastes. My uncle whom I celebrated with on Christmas eve got a bottle of wine. That's about it for this year. Keeping it on the small. Even though this was a different Christmas it was still an awesome one. Everyone had a great time and everyone left happy. We will not be celebrating new years eve next weekend, just so that's said. --- All images in this post are taken by me. **Follow me on:** [3Speak](https://3speak.tv/user/pusen) | [PeakD](https://peakd.com/@pusen) | [Hive.Blog](https://hive.blog/@pusen)
