I was quite surprised when browsing the [trending](https://peakd.com/trending) page the other day to find out that Hive was getting their own [Punks](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@blockheadgames/punks-have-come-to-hive). After the rise in popularity of the original [Crypto Punks](https://opensea.io/collection/cryptopunks) there's been a lot of copy cat projects popping up. While many of them are just that there's also a lot of them who just use the original Punks as inspiration and that's what I feel was done with the [Punks on Hive](https://punks.usehive.com/gallery/pusen). Also they're the first punks to ever be on Hive!

With a price tag of just 20 HIVE during Hive Fest I decided to jump on this and get some for myself. I'm not missing this chance to be a part of NFT history on Hive. I minted them just as I was about to leave the house for a few hours so I wasn't able to see them until several hours later. I was quite excited to get home and get a look at them. Let's check them out:

### Anya Moss, Brewmaster

One of 356 brewmasters. Quite a standard one with quite a common trait spread. The only item standing out here is the fishermans hat which only 73 Punks have in total. Not to bad. There's also the Blue Eye Shadow worth mentioning, a trait only shared with 134 other Punks.

### Wes Eaton, Costume Designer

One of 284 costume designers. There's not a lot to say about the traits on this guy either. The beanie is the item that stands out the most, being 1 of only 77. The Nerd Glasses come in second place with only 311 others existing. I do like that this guys looks match his job though.

### Ermias Rosa, Bartender

A minimalistic one but also the one I like the most. He has a clean look. There's only 126 other cigars out there and 276 other shadow beards. Apart from that the rest of his traits are in the thousands. He's one of 308 bartenders so if all of the Punks on Hive ever throws a party he can team up with the brewmaster for some brews and the costume designer for some big time party planning.

### Jakob Singh, Park Ride Tester

My least rare punk but perhaps the one that stand out the most. He has quite light skin which is in contrast to the strong colors of his glasses. Only 372 other glasses like that and he's one of 280 Punks with a goatee. This guy looks like a Park Ride Tester alright.

So that's mu Hive Punks. No rares one but that's fine. I never go into an NFT project expecting anything. If I did that I would have been disappointed quite a lot.

One thing that does disappoint me though is the current distribution of the Punks on Hive. @dalz made [this post](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@dalz/punks-on-hive-sold-out-here-are-the-top-buyers-and-sales-over-time) earlier today where he pulled out some stats about the distribution after the Punks all sold out. 

Apparently there's 10 accounts who hold 35% of the total supply with two accounts holding more than 800 punks each. Not to thrilled about that if I'm being honest. With such a cheap price I wish the developers had went to at least some lengths to secure a fair distribution to as many Hive users as possible. There's only 496 owners right now. I wish this had been in the thousands even if it meant a slower sellout.

I hope those Punk whales don't just sit on them forever but actually uses them to build a community around the punks. I hope they allow non punk owners to get in on this without having to empty their wallets. Luckily there's quite a few sitting on the market for just above minting price already.

Ranting aside I can once again say that I was thrilled to see this happening on Hive. Alongside the [Bees](https://peakd.com/hive/@disregardfiat/bees) I'm excited to see the future of NFTs on Hive. With out feeless blockchain I'm sure we could one day blow Ethereum out of the water.
