I Destroyed The Swamp Walker In The First Descendant
After experiencing a difficulty with the last zone I kind of expected progress to slow down towards the end of the campaign. Turns out I was wrong. I just had to do a few adjustments to my Ascendant and weapon builds. Turns out focusing on enemy weaknesses is really strong in this game. I rolled stats on my weapons to fit the enemy type I'm fighting in each current zone and now I'm blazing through each zone at record speed. Even faster than I was at low levels.

# Swamp Loser

Even though progression was fast through the questing zones I was still quite surprised at how easily the Swamp Walker was defeated. For shits and giggles I tried to do this one in a group as well but decided two minutes into the fight that it was a waste of time and I left the group. It's hard to tell if it's purposely designed to be tuned like that but they really feel way overtuned for a group of four. I called other players idiots in a post a few days back. I take all of that back now.

One thing that disappointed me with this fight is that it's almost a pure copy of the first boss called the Grave Walker. The design is pretty much the same except that this Swamp Walker is greener and the fight is almost the same as well. Their frenzy phases are exactly the same with the bosses becoming immune and you have to shoot these cartridges popping out of his legs to take him out of the phase. There's only eight of these bosses tied to the campaign so I would have expected a little more effort from the developers to create a little more variety than this.

# One last push

With the Swamp Walker down I'm now about to go into the final questing zone. This means I will be finishing the campaign and get access to all the different endgame activities. Since I'm in such a good steam right now I decided to postpone farming out new Descendants until after I've finished the campaign. As far as I understand it I'm gonna go through old content again in the endgame which means I should be able to unlock both Ascendants and Ultimate Weapons somewhat passively bu just playing the game. I think target farming these things has the potential to create quite the burnout. I see people on Reddit mentioning farming the same dungeon or mission 300 times without getting the drops they want. It's crazy to me that someone has the patience to do that.

I'm just gonna get to endgame and then see where the game takes me from there. If the game is still fun I'll probably end up playing the game for a long time. If the endgame activities turn out to be quite meh then that's fine to. There's plenty of other games out there. This game has still given me 40 hours of fun without having to spend a single dollar.
