I Finished The Campaign In The First Descendant
I finally finished the campaign in The First Descendant. This has been my main goal since I started playing the game even if I'm taken some breaks from the campaign to do side activities and unlocking a few new characters and weapons. I now need to set new goals for myself within the game.

# Not a tale to be remembered

The campaign unsurprisingly has the role of setting up the story for the game. We get to partake in the fight between good and evil while learning more about the world, characters and universe of the First Ascendant.

All of this is very basic. The characters are rather uninteresting and borderline cringe most of the time while the story is quite simple. It's mostly a case of the bad guy wanting a thing that the good guys also want and then we fight over it. The thing is of course a thing of massive power and it would be very bad if the bad guys got its way with it. Our mission is to stop that from happening. In the screenshot below you get to see one of the bad guys being sad that we stopped him.

There's three of these things though and the campaign ends with the conclusion of what happens to only one of the things. I guess they're saving the rest of the story for future content updates. Pretty smart of them as that means they most likely have the story set for the next few years. Now they can focus on making the game better and more fun than it already is instead.

# What now?

The First Descendant isn't the kind of game where beating the campaign means you're done with the game. On the contrary this is where the game actually begins. By beating the campaign we finally get to play the game! In other words this is where the real grind for power beings.

By beating the campaign I've now unlocked hard mode for all activities. These are harder variants of said activities that drop more and better loot that I can use to create new and better builds for my ascendants. That's something I've been looking forward to a lot in this game. There's a ton of different modules that modify stats and abilities and I'm excited to play around with them. This was fun to do during the campaign but the box of tools just got vastly bigger.

I haven't done much yet other than upgrading my gear to the highest level. I now need to dive into all the different modules out there to see which ones I want to upgrade and slot into my Ascendants and weapons. There's over 500 different types so that isn't done in an hour.

One of the last things I learned before logging off tonight was that you can apply an item to your Ascendants and weapons that mark a module slot with a certain type. Slotting modules of the same type into that slot will halve the cost of the module. This opens up the doors for even more build variety that I wasn't even aware existed. It's safe to say my excitement for the game grew even more after discovering this.

God help me.
