It's strawberry season here in Germany. I love, love love strawberries and now it's the right time to eat them to no end. Because strawberries contain 90% water they are very pressure-sensitive, they easily lose their aroma and their vitamins. That's why it is best to buy them locally and in season. Then they are tastier and healthier. And that's why you have to consume them quickly after buying. And if you bought too much of them you have to be creative and find several ways to add them to your meals. Here are some quick and simple inspirations:

On sunday I made a fruity smoothie from oat milk, strawberries, bananas and a leftover piece of a papaya. Papaya, like strawberries spoils quickly so this was a great use for it and the combination turned out strawberrylicious! π

To not loose the taste it's better to wash them before removing the small green leaves. To store fresh strawberries, check them and sort out bad fruits. They could spoil the whole batch. I preferably store them in a paper mΓ’chΓ© basket in the fridge. There they keep fresh about two days

This morning, Monday morning I had a wonderful mixture of berries for breakfast: strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.

I covered them with soyghurt (from the zero waste shop around the corner - they are selling soyghurt now! Can you believe it?!?) and topped it with spelt flakes, flaxseeds and hempseeds.

A wonderful light and refreshing breakfast on a hot summer day!

There were still some strawberries left over and I had to process them quickly. I remembered the delicious mango lassi I had on Saturday and I ask myself if anybody invented a strawberry lassi yet.

I mixed the remaining strawberries, a banana for the more sweetness some soyghurt and the seeds of two kardamom capsules in my blender. When everything was very smooth I blend in some icecold sparkling water for a more refreshing taste. The combination of the strawberries and the cardamom was surprising but really, really good.

How do you like my strawberry "blossom"? π Isn't it cute?

Strawberries doesn't just taste so delicious, they are very healthy to. Strawberries contain much more vitamin C than a lemon or an orange. This is why they strengthens the body's resistance with supporting your immune system against cancer cells. Because of their richness in folic acid and iron they are good for treating anaemia. Their content of calcium strengthens the bones and their content of calium and magnesium strengthens the heart. Strawberries contain also salicylic acid and can therefore alleviate rheumatism and gouty arthritis.

There are no more strawberries in my fridge. I urgently need to buy more tomorrow morning. I don't want to waste no of the precious strawberry time over here ... π π πππ

Thank you @lenasveganliving for another round of this beautiful contest and @proanima for being the guest judge this week! I've been there and I really do not envy you because it's always so hard to come to a decision. Good luck! π
