Bueno, que desastre más grande el que acabamos de presenciar en ultimo gran premio de Mónaco y me parece no estoy solo en este baro, la Formula 1 intentó arreglar el problema del aburrimiento con una regla experimental que obligaba a los pilotos a hacer dos paradas obligatorias de la cual desde un principio no me inspiraba confiansa, sonaba diferente pero la realidad es que no solo empeoro las cosas o complico las cosas cuando lo unico que lograron fue crear un circo aún más ridículo donde los equipos manipularon la carrera de maneras que hacian hechar para atras el deporte. Los F1 se han vuelto tan enormes que es prácticamente imposible adelantar en este circuito, son un metro más largos que hace 20 años lo que hace que su agilidad en curvas lentas sea pésima, la tendencia al subviraje los convierte verdaderamente torpes mientras que los pilotos y equipos tienen que hacer magia para balancearlos. La nueva norma de las dos pits stops no solo no funcionó sino que creó problemas nuevos donde los equipos descubrieron que podían manipular la competencia al ir mas lento a propósito para beneficiar a uno de sus pilotos o inclusive a un equipo relacionado es el caso de Red Bull y su equipo Jr, algunos llegaron a hacer vueltas de hasta 5 segundos más lento de lo normal, como si estuvieran en categorías completamente diferentes y esto llevo a pilotos como Russell a perder la pasciencia. Durante mucho tiempo se ha estado hablando de sacar a Monaco del campeonato pero con la cantidad de dinero se gasta y tal ves genera esa carrera me parece imposible que lo vallan a hacer.

El problema fundamental no es el circuito en sí, sino estos monstruos de autos que la F1 ha creado, en 2014 los autos aun eran mucho mas pequeños y se podia adelantar justo antes del túnel, pero ahora con el incidente entre Bortoleto y Antonelli podemos apreciar lo gigantescos que se han vuelto estos monoplazas que no tienen espacio para intentar rebasar en paralelo como antes porque simplemente no caben. La Formula E demostró que el circuito puede funcionar cuando tuvieron casi 197 adelantamientos en la carrera de 2024 mientras que la F1 promedía solo 12 por carrera en las últimas décadas, este año hubo apenas cuatro y uno de ellos fue ilegal, los Formula E son casi medio metro mas cortos y treinta centimetros mas angostos lo que prueba que el problema no está en las calles de Monaco sino en los autos que ha creado la Formula 1. En lo que me puse a buscar los tiempos de Schumacher se ve como Hamilton lo rebasa en la primera curva ambos uno a lado del otro lo cual es casi imposible hoy en dia, incluso el mismo Kimi se mandaba por el exterior para superar a Hulkenberg en la primera curva en 2013, pero por seguridad los autos han cambiado tanto que a corto plazo no hay manera de que reduzcan su tamaño lo suficiente. En 2026 el auto será un poco más pequeño pero no lo suficiente como para pensar que algo va a cambiar drásticamente en este Monaco, así que nos le tocara a la F1 buscar otras alternativas.

Para mi uno de los mayores atractivos de esta pista es el trasado y lo angosto, que contra producente la verdad pero es que ver como los Formula tiene que practicamente quitarle la pintura a la barda con el rin para poder sacar hasta la mas minima fracciones es increible, pero si lo primero tal ves seria cambiar el trasado. Luego estan otras opciones como utilizar neumaticos que degraden mucho mas rapido obligan a hacer paradas naturales mas no obligatorias, adicional que 78 vueltas es una cantidad que va entrando en lo absurdo cuando el circuito no es muy largo, si no podemos hacer los autos mas pequeños tal ves si no se pueden reducir el tamaño de los autos entonces ampliar el circuito para volver a esa ratio de dimension auto vs circuito pero tampoco creo que sea posible ya que es un cuircuito de calle alado del mar. Otra opcion que se me ocurre es alargar el circuito almenos para que no sea tan monotono o corto, no conosco Monaco pero buscando online veo que esto ya fue una propuesta hace un tiempo donde agregarian un kilometro mas a la pista y asi podrian adicionar zonas de DRS, pero el DRS pronto desparecera y un kilometro adicional no estoy seguro su haga mucha diferencia. Si see puedise cambiar el circuito pueden probar con los deltas de velocidad obligando a todos a hacer varias paradas pero con un tiempo de vuelta mínimo y pense que esto iva a ser asi en la carrear pasada, si giras más lento de lo requerido te penalizan para que todos aprieten y no aflojen para beneficiar a sus compañeros de equipo.

En 2026 hay cambio de regulaciones y podrían aprovechar el nuevo modo Overtake configurando un mapa de motor especial para este lugar, habrá un sistema para todas las pistas con un botón que ayudará a adelantar, pero para Mónaco podrían probar rangos de potencia diferentes que se adapten al trazado para aumentar los adelantamientos, es un método artificial pero que puede funcionar como el attack mode de la Formula E. Los neumáticos también son parte del problema porque los Pirelli no tienen una degradación natural que les haga durar pocas vueltas, se desgastan pero la pérdida de rendimiento no impide hacer toda la carrera sin parar o que el otro te adelante, tener un compuesto demasiado blando para la carrera lo cambiaría todo porque los pilotos pararían por necesidad y no porque una regla los obliga. Russell sugirió que solo haya clasificación lo cual me parece ridiculo pero la verdad su logica tiene sentido, para que la carrera si solo van a poder desfilar una atras de otro, los pilotos se quejan del aburrimiento y tienen razón porque lo que vivimos este fin de semana fue una manipulación total de la competencia. La estrategia de obligar más paradas ayuda al espectáculo pero mientras los autos no se hagan más pequeños este problema seguirá existiendo por que todos queremos mas overtakes y tendrán que de una manera o otra cambiar el diseño del circuito como mínimo.

La realidad es que Mónaco tiene un significado especial desde los inicios de la F1 y cuenta con un trazado que deverdad te llena de adenalina tanto a los pilotos como a espectadores, ver los autos pasar tan cerca de los muros donde el mínimo error se paga caro lo convierte en uno de los circuitos más icónicos de la historia, pero en cuanto a espectáculo las carreras han ido empeorando y en 2025 tocaron un suelo y esto fue desastroso debido a un experimiento mal ejecutado. El Gran Premio tiene contrato hasta 2031 asi que nos toca aguantarlo almenos por seis años más, pero algo tiene que cambiar porque lo que paso este fin de semana fue una farsa donde los equipos manipularon la competencia como quisieron y la F1 y la FIA permition que sucediera, creando barreras mobiles de cuatro ruedas para beneficiar a sus pilotos. Ojalá mejore en 2026 con los nuevos autos pero si no funciona tendrán que considerar seriamente modificar el diseño porque mantener este formato actual es una burla para los fanáticos que esperamos ver carreras reales, el deporte sigue siendo hermoso pero la F1 en Monaco se está convirtiendo en algo que ya no se conoce como una carrera de la maxima categoria del automovilismo.
