The Banyan tree is one of the greatest attractions and land mark of <b> Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose </b> Indian Botanic Garden . The tree, <b><i> Ficus Benghalensis L. [ family : Moraceae] </i></b> is more than 250 year old and spread over area of about 1.6 hectares with about 3618 prop roots.  A wonder in plant kingdom, the tree occupies its position in the  <h2> "Guinness Books Of World Records" </h2> for its massive canopy which covers the greatest area.
