Looking at all the articles on the main page of Medium or Steemit will reveal something fairly obvious - there are A LOT of people writing and publishing articles nowadays. That may be because writing is a fairly easy thing to do, but I think that people's desire to share their opinion is also a reason. Something I noticed with a lot of those articles however is how other people feel a need to take them too seriously, to look at the author as being a "figure of authority" and to make a big deal out of the words of a guy or a girl who maybe wrote something simply because they wanted to share a personal thought or opinion. One thing that often amuses me is how journalists or even normal people on the Internet act like they know what the authors really meant. They act like they know what the "real reason" behind an article or a video is, like they know the truth that nobody else sees. And this is often because we treat information we find online as being sacred, as being an absolute truth that will never be changed. It's not. Most information you'll find online is subjective, written or created by people who have an opinion and wish to share it. That doesn't make it true. It doesn't even make it relevant. What's more important, it probably won't influence other people. Articles about feminism won't turn people into feminists. Articles about crime won't turn people into criminals. Articles about technology and programming languages won't turn people into programmers. The same thing applies to videos. The drama created for those type of articles/videos/movies, etc, is fairly lame and irrelevant. Most people's opinions are irrelevant. It's just a general truth. Opinions are subjective and they can offend others, it's just how it is. Because of all that, it's a good practice to just ignore how you feel about most articles and most opinions and to just mind your own business. It's not worth spending time trying to convince someone that they are right or wrong. Opinions don't really mean anything and they won't change a lot, especially when they are shared by some random person on the Internet. Look at articles and videos for what they are - people, some more relevant than others, sharing their opinions, opinions that may be liked by some and disliked by others. Don't judge and don't create drama, because it won't lead to anything and it won't change anything. Learn how to mind your own business and how to not waste your time by thinking you'll change the world if you write an article or if you try to change someone else's opinion. If you do want to change the world, take action and start doing good. Posting something on the Internet doesn't help, even when your argument is "I'm raising awareness".
