When I was a kid I had a magic kit. I aspired to be a magician when I grew up. I'd practice my tricks for hours and hours. Then I would force my parents to watch me perform "magic" for them over and over. My parents clapped enthusiastically at first. Over time the claps became less enthusiastic and my parents began moaning every time I wanted to show them a trick. Understandably, I was showing them the same 10 tricks repeatedly for months and months.

Then, one day I went to find my magic kit but it was gone. I looked all over the house but it was no where to be seen. I asked my parents and they told me that sometimes magic kits disappear into thin air once children master the art of magic. They were drinking wine at the time, celebrating some happy event. They excitedly told me I got so good at magic that my magic kit disappeared and will reappear in the room of a new kid who wants to learn magic. I was really happy with that answer. I would fantasize about a kid in a third world country getting  my magic kit and being so happy with no idea my magic kit was really rotting in the city dump.

I was such a stupid kid....
