This song was composed by Mario Cavagnaro Llerena and was first performed by Peruvian [César Gonzales](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mNhT2nIn1M) in a 1960 album for Sonoradio with the Sensación Tropical orchestra. That's how Hector heard the song and decided to include it in his album "La Voz", released in 1975 by Fania Records. Fue su debut como solista después de separarse de Willie Colón.  Héctor turned this piece into a classic of Latin music and a cult bolero for all lovers of the genre. It has been re-recorded and performed live by many artists, such as [El Cano Estremera](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBPyEQiXhxQ), [Pacho Hurtado](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyoCj5eScI4), [Argenis Carruyo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNquXf26ylQ) and [Andrés Cepeda](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go1i-Z7x7lA). For my part, I decided to perform it because of the immense respect and admiration I have for the singer of singers, plus I feel it fits well with my voice timbre.
