Yes I know for most of us the time is over to photograph snowflakes this year. But: I tried this topic approximately one month ago and now I want to share my experience with you and also give you (hopefully) some helpful tips! So now the most important thing: you don't need a big camera for this topic. But you will need a macro lens otherwise you won't get nice results. And yes you even can get macro lenses for your smartphone! Then the time also __when__ you should go out and photograph snowflakes is a very important factor too. And also easy to be answered: Just when the snow has fallen! Because the nice crystal structure we all imagine when we are thinking about snowflakes is only visible for a few minutes. You should also look for a nice location with hard contrasts. If you only photograph snow with snow you would probably get something like that: You can see the picture is sharp and has a large enough depth of field due to the closed aperture but you can hardly see structure. And that's because all that snow has the same color. So I think that is all I know and learned about it so far _Please comment if you like this kind of posts or upvote and resteem if my post valuable for you_
