We are in the 21st century and thanks to science and technology, there has been rapid growth in the digital space today. Some years ago, there was no development of button phones not to mention smartphones. The means of communication then was writing a letter and sending it to the receiver through post offices, which might take days before it was delivered. The means of transportation was by foot or train in some cases before the development of cars. The good news is that there have been several developments in digital space over the years, adding beauty to human life.

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has been a stepping stone to other revolutionary developments in our world today, AI is so much present in everything we do in this century. However, there are fears regarding privacy, bias, and job displacement but the fact still remains that the positive impact of AI in the digital space outweighs its negative consequences. One of the significant positive impacts of AI is its ability to enhance efficiency and productivity. AI-powered systems can process a large amount of data rapidly and accurately than humans which makes work easier. Several industries now use AI to get some of their difficult tasks done faster. In healthcare, AI is now used to analyse medical images, predict disease outbreaks, and assist in drug discovery, which is in turn saving lives and cutting costs. 




For financial sectors, AI is used to detect fraud, which benefits the economy and improves the quality of life. It helps with algorithms. In the digital space where everyone seems to be busy on the Internet with one or two, AI is used in powering social media feeds, streaming platforms, and e-commerce, which helps users find information that suits their preferences. Likewise in the education sector, AI is being used to improve the quality of learning, helping individual students find their place academically. It has helped to improve access to education globally. 




A few years ago, with the help of AI, cars that needed no driver were developed; all that is needed is just a piece of instruction on where to drive, and it will successfully carry out the task. This was possible due to the use of AI's unlimited ability to make life easier than it is. As the year unfolds, new innovations are being developed, all with the help of AI. Developed countries are making good use of this opportunity leading to positive impact on their economy.

Although the rise of AI came with some challenges, such as data privacy, surveillance,  job automation, and the concentration of power among the tech giants. The fear of job displacement, especially in the low-skilled sector, is also rampant and one of the reasons why some don't really support AI. All these negative impacts are not inherent to AI itself but rather how it is being designed and governed. If it is being managed and guarded, AI can be a tool for progress and not a threat. All the fears would be erased, and it would be of more use to humans than it already is.
