Birdwatcher Log : 17.06.20
Greetings to all, bird lovers! Here is a new post about my adventures in the forest.
The path to the forest lies through the old cemetery, but even this cemetery is full of birds.

The first bird I met was this one

<center>

It looks like a young **tree pipit**
He was alone, but judging by the fact that he already eats on his own, he can take care of himself.

In general, this is such a time when in most birds the nestlings have already grown up and become "teenagers".

For example, **Eurasian nuthatch**. On the right is the nestling, which requires the parent to feed him.
Now the birds practically do not sing, and everyone is busy with family cares.

Here, nearby I saw this baby.

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 154841.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmZ4pz7PvtdqbhDvz5KWkmfiLRpWR7wTB2eRaGyNckzLLj/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20154841.jpg)

The young **great spotted woodpecker** sat quietly on a tree and was waiting for his father, who was nearby and was getting food for him. If you look closely, young woodpeckers of this species have a red cap on their heads, and with age, only a nape spot will remain from this cap.

I have been in this cemetery for a long time, many birds live here. Here, for example, I heard a **European robin**.

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 154856.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmbiBhjjD6VuynBR1rfDrvJ6JLHBqQB5ntmEQ6Au3joDQY/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20154856.jpg)
</center>

The male sang a guard song so that everyone around knew that it was his territory.
For the second year in a row, I see these birds in this very place of the cemetery. It is interesting how birds remember places with such incredible accuracy, which they return to after wintering.

Well and of course! As without thrushes? These guys live everywhere. I sometimes even hear them in the courtyard of the house.

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 154909.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmbUu9N97QUbPDhqfXfJ6V6TWFZFvEzjASMEhi3DzeWExu/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20154909.jpg)

There are a lot of **fieldfare** in our forests, they have excellent survival ability. This is due to their fearlessness and cohesion in the face of danger. They can often be seen as they drive away birds of prey, kites or corvids.

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 155026.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmVSpFm2m3ekqqBbkVodt7MejPXtSVog6C2J1pf52zD2Cz/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20155026.jpg)
</center>

Moreover, not only birds of one species are united, but other thrushes also participate.

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 154945.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmVuxgA55UsZr8qeKZFRs2v6WHNFpL22r94przbThbpMXn/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20154945.jpg)
</center>

And in the middle of the paths a female **common chaffinch** jumped. She collected fallen seeds. Then there were a lot of poplar seeds.

And almost reaching the very end of the cemetery I met **spotted flycatcher**

<center>
![Скриншот 03-07-2020 155003.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmYo9Vhwac7TwQnKEvVMx9GXD8WPwMyFdW27AbW6xgPYXY/%D0%A1%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%88%D0%BE%D1%82%2003-07-2020%20155003.jpg)

For the first time I see her here. Well, welcome here!
In Russian, this bird is called the gray flycatcher. But why? She is not gray but slightly brown. The same situation is with black kites, they are not black!

Finally! I finally reached the forest, and met a **redstart** there.

As usual, the male was not at all afraid of me. Like sitting on a branch holding an insect in his beak, he stayed even when I came closer.
When these birds have nestlings, they become fearless, they divert attention to themselves so that the enemy follows him and moves away from the nest or nestlings.

Next was a long exhausting journey.

I planned to walk to the hills and the adjacent meadows. The path is long and uncomfortable. And it lies through a difficult path in the forest, where it is full of blood-sucking insects, dense thickets, many fallen and broken trees and bushes on the way.

But in this unpleasant place there is still one plus. Here, in open sunny places, early berries, strawberries and blueberries grow. It already ripens around the end of June (in this warm year in the middle), in other places all the berry ripens as it should be in the 20th of July.

It is very fragrant, and I find it even by smell.

And also in this place **common buzzards** nest every year.
Seeing me, this bird flew around and tried to understand what I was doing there in the bushes with berries :)

I had to run up and down the hill to take this picture. He still did not want to sit on a tree.
Having made a photo, I finally left this uncomfortable territory. And went to the area where thickets in the midst of tall trees.

There is one "saving nook" there. It has a pipe, or rather a spring with cold water. On such a hot summer, when the temperature is above +25C, you can wash off sweat and cool off.

After resting at the spring, I walked about 400 meters and reached the desired place.

Previously, different birds lived here, the **brown shrike** and the **european stonechat**, but since last year I have not met them here, it's sad.

</center>

Only below, where the lupins grow and the remains of some old buildings are located, I saw **common whitethroat** with a caterpillar in beak. Somewhere down there were nestlings, but I did not bother them. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the only bird living in this place.

</center>

Well, after a short rest, I went home. There was a long and difficult way back, especially difficult because by that time I was pretty tired.

I hope you enjoyed my story, see you!
