Our second layer of color has been applied. Tonight after school homework and chores are done we will finish the final layer and sign our names to the finished painting project.

E is my seven year old Granddaughter and we are learning how to draw together. I am using the children's interest in Pokeman to bond with them and also teach them the basics in painting and drawing. I am having a blast learning how to draw Pokemon characters, I had no idea how fun it could be drawing cartoons. 

I've never taught anyone how to paint. I learned how to paint by watching my Mom paint and my children learned how to paint by watching me.  I act and do, my children watched and copied. Using words to explain things has always been difficult for me. E is my teacher, she is very kind and patient with me.

E is officially a worker of shadows. After an initial struggle of learning to mark an imaginary light point and figuring out where the shadows will develop, she caught the idea! Second layer for her picture is laying down the shadows. Next is adding highlights and cleaning up images, strengthening her line flows.

Her first layer of color after she drew her image and she thought she was done. I said no you are not and she had a pouting session, which I let her own.
