<p>On the Westside of the Oregon Cascades and Coastal Mountains everything is covered in moss. I grew up playing in a rainforest and did not know how special my playground was. I knew I loved my woods but I did not know how unique it was compared to the rest of the world.</p>

<p>The world is very quiet in a moss covered forest, all noise is muffled and many times you can't quite make out where the sound originated. Walking in the deep woods feels like the woods is holding its breath and when it finally lets go it's going to scream, no scream is ever heard except the silent scream of my imagination.</p>

<p>In the deep woods there are few animals that can make a living off of the meager fare given out by the Douglas Fir and Red Cedar, the trees are very stingy and standoffish. All one hears in the Northwest rainforest is sighs, creaks, and groans of the trees when the wind blows. This silence would make my imagination grow and I would feel hundreds of eyes watching me. But I never saw the watcher if there ever was one.</p>
