Anyone who went through high school in the Philadelphia, PA area in the early 1980s will remember that we had our choice of two "shock jocks" on morning radio. One was [Howard Stern](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Stern), from New York City. The other was a local DJ named [John Debella](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_DeBella). I've never been a fan of talk radio, so I would listen to Debella's [Morning Zoo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_zoo) show while I was getting ready for school. Both of them talked too much, but at least Debella played some music. In addition to the regular rock music in his play list, Debella also had some humorous songs that he played every week like clockwork. Of the two that I remember, I think the first is widely known. It's from Monty Python, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life:" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ECUtkv2qV8 I switched to listening to country music in the mid-80s, so I totally lost track of John Debella, and forgot all about the Morning Zoo until fairly recently, when I discovered that he's now doing the morning show on a local classic rock station. I was listening to that program one morning a few years ago when he described how he had stumbled across another of his trademark humorous songs during a chance visit to a record store. At the time, I had totally forgotten about the song, but I recognized it as soon as he played it. It was an obscure song called, "Stick Out Your Can," by Roscoe Holland. Of course as soon as he reminded me of it, I had to see if I could find it on youtube, and there it was: https://youtu.be/fyUACQjqh1Q Ever since then, I've been curious about just how obscure the song is. Judging from the youtube view count (5,991), I'm guessing that it's not very well known. I'm sure that many people of a certain age from the Philadelphia area will recognize it, but has anyone outside of 1980s Philadelphia ever heard "Stick Out Your Can" before? It is a slight bit edgy, but also amusing.
