Everyone knew the outbreak had gotten really bad when people stopped counting years. There were no fireworks this year. No ball drop in Times Square. Heck, our heroes don’t even know what year it was anymore. The world had been taken over-by Massacre Spiders. Masacre Spiders were aggressive killer spiders that were big enough to put humans into their diet, and didn’t hesitate. Even if you escaped being eaten, being bitten also meant death in a way. Masacre Humans are zombie-like beings that can crawl on walls and ceilings, have teeth two-inches long, and like the taste of human flesh. There are different types of Massacre Spiders, like Widows, which are lady Spiders that kill women but only eat men. Or Spider baby pouches filled with deadly Spider babies. Different types of spiders spin different types of webs. Where our story takes place, we have three main heroes. Lucas - Massacre Spider killer. A Realist trying to survive this mess. Jack - A quick-tempered guy just searching for a place to live where he can escape the spiders and live a normal life. He also wants to find out how the Massacre Spiders even came about, and why they want to eat humans. Jack is also engaged to Mary. Mary - Opportunist and renaissance woman. Didn’t expect the Massacre Spiders, but she won’t let them be the end of her. All three heroes were sliding around the alleyways of some town in Georgia, hoping not to be seen. A group of survivors hiding out in a bar invited the three to come in, as long as they weren’t infected… The three decided to take the invitation. While Lucas and Jack went to the back of the bar to the storage room to talk with the survivors, Mary stayed up front to watch for spiders. With all that out of the way… “JACK!” Blast! An explosion was heard. The sound of breaking glass followed, with a bunch of blast and blows of bullets. Jack looked to his ‘good old pal’ Lucas, who seemed to look just as uneasy as he did. “Mary!?” Jack yelled, looking around the table. Everyone seemed as shocked as he did about the situation. Some people looked scared. “MARY!” Jack yelled once more, and then he left the room, Lucas following close behind. They ran out from the storage room of the bar to see what was happening upfront. The Massacre Spiders had followed them here, with infected humans. The humans dawned eight, inckly black eyes of all sizes scattered about there face and there skin almost looked purple. The humans also dawned blue uniforms and shiny golden badges. “Darn it! Who called the police!?” Lucas yelled. “Everyone knows they are the first to get infected!” The Massacre Humans were shooting the inside of the bar to ribbons. An explosion had already occurred, there being a huge black crater in the center of the bar. Wood and glass were everywhere. Mary was curled up behind the counter, her face looking strained. “Mary!” Jack yelled again, and ran to his girlfriend’s side. She took a long look at him, her teeth clenched, yet said nothing. Jack noticed Mary was clutching her right arm. Jack gently put Mary’s hand aside to see a huge shard of glass poking out of her bloody flesh. “You’re bleeding! How did this happen!?” he asked immediately. “One of the infected policemen threw a grenade inside the bar. I got hit, but not shot. I crawled behind the counter as soon as I could.” Mary’s voice gave out at the end of the sentence. Jack’s heart felt strained. “Who threw it?” Oh no. Mary knew where this was going, and Jack couldn’t afford to be hot headed at this moment. “Nevermind that, Jack, we have to-” “Who threw it!?” Jack yelled impatiently this time. Oh screw it, Mary thought. After all, revenge could be useful. “A Massacre Human with blond hair and a pistol.” Jack took a peak behind the bar counter. “I’ll keep a tab on him. Right now, I have to tend to your wound.” “No! No you don’t! We have to get rid of those shooters! I’m fine, really!” Mary lied. “No, you're not, and that wound could get infected.” Jack reasoned. He reached out for her arm. Mary put a hand in front of his, but Jack softly pushed it away. “Let me see, Mary.” The glass in Mary’s arm wasn’t too deep, but it definitely wasn’t a surface cut. He’d have to pull the glass out first. But that could be painful, and he really didn’t want to hurt Mary any further. He poked some skin around the gore. “Does that hurt? How bad, 1 to 10?” “OUCH! Ten!” Mary replied. Jack winced. “Sorry, but this is going to hurt a whole lot. But I have to pull out the glass.” *Geez, am I the ONLY one who wants to preserve our lives!? The spiders are trying to crawl in, and Jack’s worried about petty wounds,* Thought Lucas. Lucas took out his pistol and began to shoot at the Spiders outside, but there were just too many targets. If he shot the Spiders, the Massacre Humans shot at his vitals. If he shot at the Massacre Humans, the Spiders advanced. Lucas was busy trying to pick off a guy on the far left when BOOM! A bullet was aiming right for his head. He quickly bent behind the counter as the bullet whizzed over his head. *Close one!* He thought, as he broke into a warm sweat. Meanwhile, Jack had carefully taken hold of the lightning-bolt-shaped glass shard stuck in Mary’s arm. Mary bit her lip and closed her eyes. Jack quickly pulled out the glass shard. He didn’t like how it had felt lodged in her skin so deeply. “Ouch-ouch-ouch!” Mary stared at her arm, now just a bloody mess. Tears came to her eyes. “I’m sorry.” Jack said again. *We need alcohol to clean this gash,* Jack thought. He looked around the bar counter. Well, they were surrounded by tons of it. He grabbed some of the whiskey from inside the bar counter. “Thought you didn’t drink, Jack,” Lucas said, keeping his eyes tracked on the spiders. “I’m not going to drink it.” Jack replied, holding Mary’s hand still. “The alcohol from this whiskey should clean your wound.” Jack tried to steady his hand as poured the brown liquid on Mary’s arm. “GAAAHHH! WHY!?” screamed Mary, she wriggled and yanked her arm out of Jack’s grasp. “That hurts like no one’s business!” “I’m almost done!” Jack told her. “There’s more!?” Mary yelled. “Just one more thing,” Jack quickly began to tug on his shirt. Soon the fabric ripped and he wrapped this ragged shirt fabric around Mary’s arm. “That should do it.” finished Jack, giving Mary’s wrist an affectionate squeeze. Mary smiled weakly at him. The wood began to bend and wheeze as a 7-foot giant black widow squeezed into the bar, it’s bloodthirsty-purple eyes headed for the trio. “Jack! We’ve got Widows coming in!!” yelled Lucas, wasting rounds on the biggest one. “I’ll be right there!” Jack yelled pulling a gun out of his pistol holder. They’d have to find a way to escape. Pistols weren’t nearly enough to hold those spiders back. “Thank you, Jack.” I owe you one big time. said Mary. How handsome he was, with his caring dark brown eyes and lush black curls. Jack smiled. “I love you. Just you staying alive is enough for me.” And that’s when Jack got pulled into a warm kiss. The smooch lasted a moment, which both Mary and Jack savoured. Jack put a hand up on Mary’s square jaw. “Great work guys! That sappy-ness is nearly enough to scare off the spiders! Notice I said *nearly*.” Interrupted Lucas. “Right,” said Jack, remembering his surroundings. He held his pistol up and slid over to Lucas’s side of the counter. Time to get down to business.
