What To Do If Someone Grabs You From Behind and Lifts You Up
When you fight for self defense, never underestimate your opponent. You do not know what he or she is capable of doing. Just looking at the person, sometimes you cannot guess. That person might have some background and has some skills. So do not think this is going to be easy.

If someone is stronger than you are, he usually uses his power to take advantage of any situation and puts you in a vulnerable position. In case the attacker grabs you from behind, that's one thing you have to deal with. And now if he grabs you from behind, aka, bear hug and lifts you up, this is going to be challenging to defend that.

To defend yourself in this situation, you can trap his leg. You can use your one leg and trap his right or left leg. Since he has already lifted you up, stop him from moving easily or stop him from lifting you further. As soon as you trap his leg, it would be difficult for him to move or lift you further. 

If your hands are open in case he grabs you without grabbing your hands you can hit him. Or, you can use your body weight to get down on the ground. If he still grabs you tight, you can hit his foot with the heel of your leg. This is going to be painful and it would be easy for you to release his hands.

Don't just stay there in that position. Attack him, you can do elbow strike, knee charge, palm strike, kick to the groin, and get out of there as soon as you can.

So you can trap the attacker's leg if he lifts you up. What can you do to make it difficult to lift you up for the first place?

If you want to stop the attacker from lifting you up, you can make a little distance between your legs and put your weight down. As soon as he grabs you, just do that. When you ground yourself properly, the attacker cannot lift you up or it would be difficult for him to do that.
