 **All the screenshots in this post were taken directly from the game by me**  <div class="text-justify"> **I've never been the biggest fan of adventure games, although I've always been obsessed with the idea of video games as a means of storytelling, the way they tend to limit the level of player participation has taken me a bit away from the genre, in looking for other slightly more dynamic experiences.** It's a bit of an outdated perspective when you consider the great work that so many games have done to create incredible stories within this format, from the relatively recent Gems of Telltale Games like The Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us, to timeless classics like Monkey Island or Grim. Fandango. A personal favorite would be Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney, an unexpected work of art that harnesses the meager power of the Nintendo DS to immerse us in a unique and charismatic world where comedy and devastating co-exist in harmony.  Although an entire franchise emerged from this adventure, today I would like to focus not only on its first video game, but more specifically on its first chapter and how I feel that it is a perfect introduction in practically every way to this universe. Why? Because despite how experimental and strange its premise may sound, Phoenix Wright doesn't need more than 20 minutes to immerse us in a magnetic reality that, under a slice of life anime style, has a series of masterfully constructed conflicts and plot points.  Beyond the narrative aspect, the triumph of the first part of Ace Attorney lies in the effectiveness with which it introduces its playable mechanics, created with the aim of immersing us in each of the cases that are presented to us. We can hear testimony, question witnesses, analyze pertinent evidence, and deal with the judge's perception of our behavior. Clearly, the trial proceedings share little or no fidelity to an actual legal process, but everything exists to heighten the dramatic impact of the events we are witnessing. Of course, it is a fairly linear title where we can hardly deviate from our path, but this does not mean that we do not celebrate the triumphs of our charismatic protagonist, or that we suffer with his defeat.    **Phoenix Wright is a perfect representation of the potential of graphic adventures, starting with a first chapter that directs everything with surgical precision, and that has an ideal rhythm for the story it wants to tell us. Visually it is attractive, the music is great and complements what we see on screen, its characters are memorable and it creates a feeling of immediate need to know what will happen next.**   **Todas las capturas de pantalla en este post fueron tomadas por mi directamente desde el juego**  **Nunca he sido el mayor fanático de las aventuras gráficas, aunque siempre me ha obsesionado la idea de los videojuego como un medio para contar historias, la forma en la que suelen limitar el nivel de participación del jugador me ha alejado un poco del género, en busca de otras experiencias un poco más dinámicas.** Es una perspectiva un poco anticuada si consideramos el gran trabajo que han hecho muchísimos juegos para crear historias increíbles dentro de este formato, desde las relativamente recientes Joyas de Telltale Games como The Walking Dead o Wolf Among Us, hasta clásicos atemporales como Monkey Island o Grim Fandango. Un favorito personal sería Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney, una obra de arte inesperada que aprovecha la escasa potencia del Nintendo DS para sumergirnos en un mundo único y carismático en dónde la comedia y lo devastador coexisten en armonía.  Aunque surgió toda una franquicia derivada de esta aventura, hoy quisiera enfocarme no solo en su primer videojuego, sino de forma más específica en su primer capítulo y en como siento que es una introducción perfecta en prácticamente todo sentido a este universo. ¿Por qué? Porque a pesar de lo experimental y extraña que pueda sonar su premisa, Phoenix Wright no necesita más de 20 minutos para sumergirnos en una realidad magentica que, bajo un estilo de anime slice of life, cuenta con una serie de conflictos y plot points magistramente construidos.  Más allá del aspecto narrativo, el triunfo de la primera parte de Ace Attorney radica en la efectividad con la que introduce sus mecánicas jugables, creadas con el objetivo de sumergimos en cada uno de los casos que se nos presentan. Podemos escuchar testimonios, cuestionar a los testicos, analizar las pruebas pertinentes y lidiar con la percepción que tendrá el juez de nuestro comportamiento. Evidentemente, el desarrollo de los juicios comparte poca o nula fidelidad con un proceso legal real, pero todo existe para realzar el impacto dramático de los eventos que estamos presenciando. Por supuesto, es un título bastante lineal en dónde difícilmente podemos desviarnos de nuestro camino, pero esto no quiere decir que no celebremos los triunfos de nuestro carismático protagonista, o que suframos con su derrota.    **Phoenix Wright es una representación perfecta del potencial que tienen las aventuras gráficas, arrancando con un primer capítulo que dirige todo con precisión quirúrgica, y que cuenta con un ritmo ideal para la historia que nos quiere contar. Visualmente es atractivo, la música es estupenda y complementa lo que vemos en pantalla, sus personajes son memorables y se crea una sensación de necesidad inmediata por saber que ocurrirá después.** <div class="text-justify"><div class="pull-left"> </div>  Twitter/Instagram/Letterbox: Alxxssss
