It is not only about being "good" or "bad", but about transmitting the essence of a series, immersing ourselves in its universe and leaving us wanting more. When I think of great first episodes, a lot of projects come to mind: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, True Detective, House Of Cards… and the series I want to talk to you about today; The Sopranos.  Released on January 10, 1999 and directed by David Chase "The Sopranos", as this first episode is titled, is a masterpiece in many ways, that fulfills all of the above. The funny thing is that my first viewing of this chapter was about 8 years ago and the reasons why I currently adore it were the same why I did not like it at that time.  As many of you already know, here we follow the story of Tony Soprano, who at least behind the curtains fulfills the role of the boss of the New Jersey mafia, stress and pressure lead him to suffer anxiety attacks and therefore decides to start see a psychiatrist: Dr. Melfi. Not only is it a brilliant work in terms of production that defied all the limits of what could be done on television, but it also knows how to deliver the information to the viewer in such an organic and natural way that those most laid off can feel a bit lost. This same naturalness invites us to immerse ourselves in the Soprano universe with extreme comfort, where there is no feeling that the story begins with our arrival, but on the contrary, we are being silent spectators of a horrible but attractive world that has always been there, we just recently had access.  A piece that works wonderfully within the series as a whole but also has value in isolation, in “The Sopranos” everything is developed with absolute confidence, the dynamics between the characters are introduced and it closes quite spectacularly. Although it is easy to ignore the impact and influence it had on our present day, each review gives us more and more reasons to understand why The Sopranos marked a before and after in television history, it is definitely not a series for everyone. world, but the mix of music, interesting characters and an excellent world building inspired by films from the likes of Goodfellas make this an incomparable piece.  **If you did not enjoy this episode instead, it will not be worth spending time on the rest of the series, because there is synthesized all the good and all the bad that this tour will offer, and at the end of the day this is what makes an episode pilot one effective.**  https://cdn.culturagenial.com/es/imagenes/los-soprano-cartel-cke.jpg [Source](https://www.culturagenial.com/es/serie-los-soprano/) **Las capturas de pantalla que acompañan este post fueron tomadas por mi**  **He visto muchísimas series a lo largo de mi vida y existe un patrón que es muy difícil de ignorar en aquellas de mayor calidad: El episodio piloto debe ser efectivo.**  Aunque sea absurdo juzgar la calidad de toda una serie en función de su primer episodio debemos admitir que es una ventaja bastante amplia a la potencial calidad que entregará la misma. No solo se trata de ser “bueno” o “malo”, sino de transmitir la esencia de una serie, sumergirnos en su universo y dejarnos con ganas de más. Cuando pienso en grandes primeros episodios se me vienen muchísimos proyectos a la mente: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, True Detective, House Of Cards… y la serie de la cual quiero hablarles hoy; Los Soprano.  Estrenado el 10 de enero de 1999 y dirigido por David Chase “The Sopranos”, como se titula este primer episodio, es una obra maestra en muchísimos sentidos, que cumple con todo lo anteriormente mencionado. Lo curioso es que mi primer visionado de este capítulo fue hace unos 8 años y las razones por las que actualmente lo adoro fueron las mismas por las que en ese momento no me agradó.  Como muchos ya saben aquí seguimos la historia de Tony Soprano, quien al menos detrás de las cortinas cumple con el rol del jefe de la mafia de New Jersey, el estrés y la presión lo llevan a sufrir ataques de ansiedad y por ende decide empezar a ver a una psiquiatra: La Doctora Melfi. No solo es una obra genial en términos de producción que desafiaba todos los límites de aquello que se podía hacer en televisión, sino que sabe entregar la información al espectador de forma tan orgánica y natural que aquellos más despitados pueden sentirse un poco perdidos. Esta misma naturalidad nos invita a sumergirnos al universo de los Soprano con extrema comodidad, en donde no existe una sensación de que la historia inicia con nuestra llegada, sino todo lo contrario, estamos siendo espectadores silenciosos de un mundo horrible pero atractivo que siempre ha estado ahí, solo que recientemente tuvimos acceso.  Una pieza que funciona de forma maravillosa dentro de la serie como un todo pero también tiene valor aisladamente, en “The Sopranos” todo de desarrolla con absoluta confianza, se introducen las dinámicas entre los personajes y se cierra con bastante espectacularidad. Aunque es fácil ignorar el impacto y la influencia que tuvo en nuestra actualidad, cada revisionado nos da más y más razones para entender por qué The Sopranos marcó un antes y un después en la historia de la televisión, definitivamente no es una serie para todo el mundo, pero la mezcla de música, personajes interesantes y un world building excelente que toma como inspiración cintas de la talla de Goodfellas hacen de esta una pieza incomparable.  **Si no disfrutaste este episodio en cambio, no valdrá la pena que dediques tiempo al resto de la serie, porque allí se sintetiza todo lo bueno y todo lo malo que este recorrido ofrecerá, y al final del día esto es lo que hace de un episodio piloto uno efectivo.** <div class="text-justify"><div class="pull-left"> </div>  Twitter/Instagram: Alxxssss
