Artifacts of Existence by RFY (Holy Fool)
Time slips slowly backwards. Our interests alone pretend to crawl towards the future, but our fingers are sore and can't drag our full weight in the direction of the sunrise. This puzzles the snails, who carry their houses without difficulty. Maybe that's what we need, homes that fit on our back. After all, do we really have anywhere else to go?

Now that I've established the proper mood, let's look at art!

"Artifact" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

![artifact (jan. 2023).png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/richardfyates/23viCFhkgfVPY1YEzZ2VrZ1F138eav3N3k9wAbH9qgcSvjZQTWJ7CUUfYBypnLvb5YpWX.png)

[Felt pen, crayon, and colored pencil on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] Look at these strange SYMBOLS! Whoever drew this was OBVIOUSLY trying to conjure spirits (or some equally insidious deed) by making this... The question is, what was their INTENTION? Were they putting evil intentions all over this place??? We'll need to get to the bottom of this! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Digital drawing realized in MS Paint on my ancient laptop.] Shilly was complaining about A.I. artists drawing bad hands, so I thought I'd help out by drawing a PERFECT hand that the A.I. programs can train on. You are all welcome! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

"DAY 45

Howdy Humans! (And Other Entities!!!)

We are now, officially, a month and a half into the "FORCED WRITING EXPERIMENT" here on the ol' TYPED.ART platform! I like it. I'm enjoying the whole, making myself write every day thing, and I'm ALSO enjoying the WORDS SANS IMAGES factor. I have several other platforms where I can share my bad-bad drawings, so having a spot where it's all PHONEMES and LETTER-slash-SYMBOLS exercises a different part of my skull.

I'll probably keep going for a while...

Chewing on Whoppers. Probably shouldn't be eating candy this close to bed, but I'm a hedonist. Who knows how much longer any of us have to live? I'd hate to think that the world might END without these chocolate malt balls ever being eaten by anyone! How tragic! (I'm tearing up... Need some chocolate to fight off the negative emotions! Wait! I have Whoppers! Hoorah!!!

Still making new art. Still sharing stuff on several platforms. I NEED to do another round of POSTCARDS (and other mail art) to the physical people in my life. Most people don't get FUN mail very often, so it's great fun to send something cool or funny to somebody for no reason at all... Actually, it's 100 percent possible to send things to people via blockchain, as well. (Look at the SPAM-ARTISTS and TRASH-ARTISTS, who send each other A.I. portraits and toters. It's HILARIOUS! TRY IT sometimE... (E!))

Unrelated: I like music. I should share a gigantic list of songs for folks to seek out and listen to... Maybe tomorrow...

That's it for tonight! Thanks for stopping by!

[Digital creation generated with my phone in a no-longer-supported, free app.] This isn't exactly concrete poetry, but that's okay. It is "word art," and that's good enough to me. DO YOUR OWN THING!!! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

"Kid Collage (Bright Eyes)" by Felicity Echo Hanson (TT) & Richard F. Yates (HF)

[Mixed media, hand-crafted collage created by Felicity, with digital embellishments and moshing done by ME...] Felicity is known for her excesses, and this collage (in its originally form) is a masterpiece. Of course, I couldn't stand that, so I took some photos of the piece and manipulated and moshed them suckers until they were creepy... Like this piece! ---Felicity Echo Hanson (Toddler Terror) & Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Ballpoint pen on notebook page with digital embellishments and color.] Zombies are supposed to be sluggish and unemotional (but super hungry.) THIS zombie looks like he's had a little too much coffee and is about to hit an ice cream shop (full of sleeping teenagers with sugary brains!) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Ballpoint pen, gel pen, and colored pencil on notebook page with digital embellishments and color.] This one is some automatic writing / automatic drawing. That happens when you have nothing planned and just let the pencil and/or pen do whatever it wants. After scribbling and jotting for a bit, I snapped a pic of the page, then finished the piece in a digital sketch program on my phone. None of this means anything (specific.) It's more like a dream... ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] Monster doll looks like he might have had too much to drink (over the last couple of decades! That nose is SWOLLEN!!!) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Oil pastel, mechanical pencil, colored pencil, and watercolor on paper.] Felicity and I collaborated on this physical piece. "DAY 46

Working on arts lately... How strange is that? Sometimes I second guess myself, and I start to feel like I'm wasting my time, but then I look at all the funny pictures I have up on all those blogs and cryptoart galleries and blah blah blah, and I say, "Yeah... That stuff is pretty fun." And then I keep going!

Still going. That's what I'm doing...

Still exploring my head and the cyber-universe and the astral plane (which is different from the astral plain, which is just a large field of sleeping grass blades...) You never know who you'll run across while exploring!!!

Short post for tonight, but that's okay. I'm in more of an INPUT MODE at the moment. Cuz this is so short, though, I offer this LOW-KU...

Super corn-cog pipe
The monsters have large talons
We hide in the dark!

Nonsense! That's all it is... (But it's perfect form! Ha!) That's it... Later!

More CHATBOT shenanigans from chat.openai.com:

-------------

Richard F. Yates (RFY) - Greetings, non-entity. I am a prankster, but I want to discuss nonsense with someone (or something) that is not necessarily me. This is an art experiment, by the way, and not a serious discussion. Do have time to participate in this joke of a discussion? (I'm thinking in the mood of Zurich Dada art here.)

Chatbot (Chat) - Hello prankster! As an AI language model, I am programmed to respond to any questions or prompts given to me. I am always available for discussions, even if they are nonsensical or part of an art experiment. Let's have some fun!

RFY - Wonderful. Let's start with a "thought" experiment. If I wrote a joke on a banana peel, would the joke be funnier written on the smooth side or the pulpy side?

Chat - As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions or senses, but one could argue that the joke would be funnier on the smooth side because it's easier to read and the contrast between the words and the surface is higher, making it more visually appealing. But in the spirit of Dada art, it could also be argued that the joke being on the pulpy side adds an element of absurdity and randomness, making it funnier in its own way.

RFY - Interesting train of logic. As a non-AI language model, I agree with your assessment. Here's another experiment. I'm going to provide the beginning of a rhyming couplet, and I would like you to provide the second half, again in the spirit of Dada or Absurdism.

Chat - Sure, I'd be happy to participate in this experiment! Please go ahead and provide the first half of the rhyming couplet.

RFY - The man hadn't a penny to place in the can

Chat - So he danced with the llama in the sand!

RFY - Well done! (And my wife loves llamas, so bonus points to you!)

Chat - Thank you! I'm glad you liked the rhyme. Let's continue with another one!

RFY - A spider of pink, with fuzzy bright legs, came waltzing into the bar

Chat - And ordered a drink with a twist and a cigar!

RFY - Thank you, AI language model! I have learned much from this experiment today!

Chat - You're welcome! It was a pleasure participating in this art experiment with you. If you have any more questions or want to continue the discussion, don't hesitate to ask!

-------------

I think, if I do any more poetry experimentation with the bot, I'll specify that I want the machine to mimic the rhythm (or at least the syllable count) so that the couplets seem more poetic. That's IF I do anymore poetry experimenting. I'm not a big fan of what I've seen produced, so far... But that makes sense, right? Poetry is language and rhythm and meaning games with words, but a program can't PLAY.

Oh well... Maybe there WILL be an A.I. that will want to play with me someday... (People tend not to, but a robot MIGHT have that desire... Someday...)

After posting that bit above on typed.art, I realized that I've got a typo in the first prompt. DANG IT!!! It's already minted (plus it IS the exact prompt that I sent to the A.I.), so I'm going to have to leave it and live with it. (I'm not burning a bunch of pieces that nobody is going to buy anyway just to fix a typo... It's not about PERFECTION, right? It's about DOING!)

That's probably enough for this visit. I'll go ahead and cut it here, and start building my NEXT post!!! (Always doing. Always making. Always BAD! YES!!!)
