0.000 HBDAre we an unhealthy generation?!
World Health Day was marked in Zagreb, the citizens could do a lot of medical examinations at Cvjetni Square. It was crowded, everybody wanted to make a blood test and check their health. Mostly thanks to the medical-lab staff involved in the majority of the organization, citizens could make tests, but also meet people 'behind the scenes', medical staff they never communicate with. Actually, they rarely see them at all, because they are usually confined to the lab. One of the main goals, when the World Health Day was established, was that everyone can access essential quality health services without facing financial barriers. Is it possible in today's world?! Well, that's a long, and most would say, utopian story. It is important to mention that things like this action are necessary, they are a good way to prevent diseases. But I have a feeling that we have forgotten how to live healthy. What does that mean, you'll say... It means we are in a rush all the time, we don't have time to eat, when we eat we eat unhealthy, junk food and most of the time offhandedly. We do not sit around the table with our families anymore, putting together food and socialization - laughter and brotherhood. That's what makes us happy, and then healthy. We do not walk, we run, cramped and pissed. We are anxious all the time. We use a car to go to work, bar, or even picnic. At home we sit like a potato in front of Tv, self-phone, tablet, laptop. Our children copy paste - their homework and our manner. We do not smile at each other, we do not think about others in need. And then we read about the epidemic of cancer and another chronic non-communicable disease. You don't say! Well, there are always bright examples and people who try to do their best. It is not important just to take care of ourselves or take extreme actions. By that I mean, it would not be a first that healthy lifestyle takes control over someone's life. We have to feed our soul too. My wonderful childhood friend is working very hard and has a difficult job by taking care of very old and very ill people in one nursing home in Germany. I called her the other day just to see how's she doing and to ask when will she take the vacation and visit us in Croatia. She said she is not coming this year because she is going to the mission in Africa. She will take care of children without their home, you know, children on the street there. That's how she'll spend her three-week vacation. She said she can't wait. It is not her first time in Africa. Well, my dear friends, I felt ashamed, and we all should. And just for the record, she feels much better than the most of us. She is not depressed, she is smiling all the time, her blood pressure is just fine, and her heart beats like a clock. I'm not saying that you will be fine if you take care of other people, but you sure will feel better no matter what. Just slow down, look around you. Take care of yourself and take care of others, enjoy lunch, enjoy your walk, smile. And get your children out. Let them play in front of the house. Play marbles with them. Take the frisbee. In one of the most beautiful parks in Zagreb, Park Maksimir, a race for the citizens was held. In fact, everyone was involved, young, old, children, professionals and amateurs, they all ran - with the same goal, promoting healthy lifestyles and enjoying nature. Statistic data of citizens physical inactivity are still present in Croatia, well, unfortunately all around the world. Every third child is obese, and children learn by model. So do not absorb the rays from the cell phone - but the rays from the first spring sun. 😎 💖 🌼
