The town of Hranice is one of the most beautiful towns in the Olomouc Region. Hranice was first settled in the 12th century at the confluence of Bečva and Velička. #### Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist
Late Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist was built between 1754-63 according to a design by architect František Antonín Grimm, constructed by building master J. A. Slováček. It is the most prominent dominant of Masaryk Square, which is in the heart of the historic center of Hranice. This church is protected as a cultural heritage.

#### Town Hall
The old town hall of Hranice dates back to the 16th century. It stands on the main Masaryk Square. The corner house with a Renaissance portal dates back to 1544, the old town hall with a Gothic hall now has the function of an information center, library, museum, gallery and art school.

#### Renaissance Chateau Hranice
The Renaissance chateau in Hranice was built in the 16th century on the site of the original castle by Jan “the younger” of Žerotín. In 1643 the Swedes plundered Hranice during the Thirty Years War, including the chateau and the church. After the reconstruction in 1998 the chateau got its present representative form. Today it houses the municipal office and the chateau café.

#### Synagogue

The synagogue was built in Hranice in the Moorish-Byzantine style in 1864. It replaced the former house of prayer from the 17th century. Inside the synagogue you can find the town museum and gallery.

#### Hranice railway viaducts
There are three huge railway viaducts in Hranice - brick, stone and concrete. The brick was built in 1846 as part of the Northern Railway of Emperor Ferdinand, its length is 448,5 meters and is no longer used. In 1873 the stone viaduct was completed and in 1937 the last concrete viaduct was completed.

#### The Hranice Abyss
The Hranice Abyss is the deepest flooded abyss with fresh water in the world. The deepest measurement from 2016 pointed to a depth of 404 m, but this is not the final depth, which is estimated to be up to 800 m. This abyss is freely accessible to tourists.
