After a beautiful camp at Lake Rosebury, we headed for the coast again, to a popular west coast tourist destination called Strahan.   The road down to Zeehan was great, with lots of lakes that would be great to camp beside. If only we have four months instead of two! We had our first paid camp as it was getting late, and it felt easy. However, for $25 and nothing but a long drop loo, I wasn't too impressed. There ARE free camps in the pines and we should have done that instead. However we were letting the others decide which made our lives easier for a few days.    Strahan itself is nice - we filled up with diesel and water by the wharf, and visited the tourist information and the sawmill, picking up a couple of huon pine breadboards for gifts. Huon pine takes hundreds of years to grow and they aren't allowed to cut it anymore, just salvage it. Whilst the boys went 4wding in the dunes, I went for a walk in the pines as it was so windy on the coast. However I did pop to the water to see the lighthouse on the other side.  Marks 12v system wasn't working so Jamie helped him sort it out. He loves problem solving car problems that aren't his, haha.   In the morning the boys fished for salmon and caught a couple. Australian salmon is plentiful here. Levi deep fried it and it was incredible. We only catch as much as we can eat. We don't eat much fish as it's too hard to find fish that's sustainable and I believe it's important to preserve animal life where possible. This did feel respectful and considerate of the life we were taking but we won't fish again for a while as we both felt a little sad about it. In the morning we went to the supermarket to top up with fresh veggies and had a walk along the river looking at the old buildings and the river. You can enjoy river cruises here but that's not our thing.
