Hive Reputation Score Information

For the last few months, I have been trying to get my reputation score as high as possible here on Hive so that new users will see my account and know that I've been around and am trustworthy/reputable here. With that being said, other than knowing that "high number equals good", I didn't really know much else about this score.

I was curious, so I started to do some googling and I came across [this article](https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@sacrosanct/how-does-reputation-work-in-hive-answering-in-quora) from around a year ago by @sacrosanct .

I hope that they won't mind me using a graphic from their post:

Some really interesting things that I learned from reading this article was that the reputation score is determined through a logarithmic function.

This was an informative quote from the article with rshares being reward shares:

> The raw reputation of any author in Hive Blockchain is the net aggregated sum of rshares received at any given point of time. The rshares is a function of the reward pool, HP can influence the reward pool and as the influence is governed by the HP(Hive Power), the rshares is ultimately dependent on the HP of the voter.

It was nice to find out a bit of the math behind the score that determines the first impression that we give here on Hive. Ultimately, getting likes from accounts with a lot of HP drives your score, but it also gives you the opportunity to grow and then one day be an account that is a big determinant in the score of others.

I like to imagine that we are building up our accounts now in the hope that many people will end up using Hive. Inevitably if that happens it will become more difficult to gain reputation due to a larger decentralization of HP. Keep posting and keep engaging, there is no telling what that will look like a few years from now!
