Let me go a little bit extreme on this topic. Color is a good example.  Color as such does not exist “out there” in the world; it’s a function of the rod and cones in our eyes.  In this, we perceive color as our rods and cones map out the differences in the reflection or absorption of light in the electromagnetic spectrum.
