Craft Beer Blog #10
10 weeks strong and the beers keep tasting better and better!
For my review this week I decided to get a beer from one of the furthest locations from me. I bought a sampler pack from Kona Brewing Company which is located all the way out in Hawaii. I have drank their beer before and liked the flavor, but I wanted to try more.
Their Big Wave Golden Ale really stuck out to me. This is a beer for everybody!

Craft beer can be an acquired taste for most novice beer drinkers. I tend to like the EPA/IPA family. I enjoy the hops and slight bitterness. But craft beer doesn't and shouldn't need to be a struggle for the vast majority of beer drinkers. This beer is a perfect fit for those people. Try not to confuse what I am saying. This is a great tasting beer! It's just not one of those craft beers you need to worry about novice drinkers spitting out. Put down the Bud Light and offer up a Big Wave with no worries :)

Kona Brewing describes Big Wave as follows:
"Light, Balanced & Easy Going
Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish."

This is usually the part where I give you my spin on it. I got nothing for you. This describes the beer to a T. Since it is a Hawaiian brewery they obviously market if to people after a day at the beach or after a long surf session. This beer is great for any occasion. Think of it as a flavored light beer for your domestic drinking friends. I would have no concern introducing novice craft brew drinkers to this beer.

Like most golden ales coldness is key. The colder the better! So put these bad boys on ice and pour it into a frosty mug. This tasty, easy to drink golden ale will fit in perfect at your next get together!

That's all I got for you this week. Like all other Fridays I am pushing for the weekend! Time to finish this beer and get after it :)

Come back next week. I am heading to La Crosse, WI for the weekend and Irish Fest is going on. I will hopefully be covering an Irish beer (not Guinness).

I hope you enjoyed this post!
