Hi there!
This is 'Dungeon', a custom made artwork I created for Argentinian band Plasma Sons' debut album.
The band gave a pretty concise concept to recreate: two of the band members walking towards a magic plasma tree; the third band member waits under the tree.

This is a space rock band so aside of the magic feel I wanted to give it some sort of alien look.
Here's a closeup... Other parts may be a bit rougher than they look like so I'll just stick to this one. :D

At the time -this was made a couple years ago- my favorite version was one with waterfalls coming down from the cavern's ceiling, that emphasized the perspective a lot. But the client made me remove them and looking at it now, I think he was probably right. Not that I don't like the waterfalls version but I think they take away from the main concept.

In the process animation you can also see the earlier versions. The first one I modeled completely on Sketchup and then kept sketching on Photoshop. The next frame is already this final  composition but also has some buildings I had modeled in Sketchup... but in the end none of that stayed until the end. Mostly the artwork is photomanipulation with maybe 20% digital painting.
