I want to write today about Hande Kader.

Hande Kader was a transgender woman, a sex worker and a transgender rights activist for the LGBTI comunity in Turkey, a country with religious conservatives and unstable political regime, where homosexuality is not illegal , but homophobia and transphopia is leading to hate crimes, and murders that often go unpunished. 

Hande Kader went missing and was found dead on August 12th. She was sexually assaulted and her body burned. 

The LGBTI community in Turkey is mourning her loss and activists across the world are crying for justice (in a society that rarely reacts).

I guess that was the last drop in a glass full of violence towards trans people,  because even though in Turkey there are restrictions on demonstrations, LGBT activists plan to take it on the streets of Istanbul , today (August 21st) and protest against the death of Kader and call for more to be done. And for the first time , famous figures in Turkey , are joining the calls to raise awareness and they will be part of the demonstration. 

I have no more words to write..i only have sadness...and frustration that it took so many deaths to even get a reaction.
