In battles with the **What Doesn't Kill You Ruleset**, all units gain the **Enrage Ability** which multiplies their speed and melee attack by 1.5x rounded up. I place great emphasis on using **Melee Attack Monsters** in battles with the **What Doesn't Kill You Ruleset**, as they can be much more effective in such battles.

I will share one of my most interesting battles with the **What Doesn't Kill You Ruleset**, I hope you like it.

- **What Doesn’t Kill You**: All Monsters have the Enrage ability.
- **Ferocity**: All Monsters have the Fury ability.
- **Going the Distance**: Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles.

**Enrage Ability** : This unit has 50% bonus Melee attack and Speed when not at full health.
**Fury Ability** : This Unit does double damage to targets with the Taunt ability.

**MY STRATEGY**

According to the rulesets of the battle, all monsters in this battle would have the Enrage Ability and Fury Ability. And Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles, so I determined my strategy accordingly.

First of all, in order to give my team an advantage in this battle, I will reduce the attack power and speed of all Ranged Attack Monsters in the opposing team, and also ensure that all monsters in my team have extra armor.

In addition, I will make a powerful defense on the front line, so I will use Runic Skyclaw in the front line, as I believe that Runic Skyclaw will help me. I will also use the Martyr Ability in front of it, and when the monster with the Martyr Ability dies, the Runic Skyclaw will get +1 to all its stats and thus be able to defend much stronger. Although Runic Skyclaw cannot attack in first position, it can defend very strongly.

Additionally, I will use the Protect Ability to ensure that all monsters in my team have +2 extra armor. And finally, I will use cards with ranged attacks that can attack targets most powerfully and be effective in this battle.

**LINE UP**

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Quix%20the%20Devious_lv2.png

**Summoner : QUIX THE DEVIOUS**

In this battle, I chose **Quix the Devious** as the **Summoner**, as I believed that reducing the Ranged Attack of all Ranged Attack Monsters on the opposing team by -1 and reducing the speed of all monsters on the opposing team would give my team an advantage. Quix the Devious reduces the speed of all enemy monsters by -1 and reduces the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters by -1.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/soulbound/Venari%20Marksrat_lv4.png

**Position 1: VENARI MARKSRAT**

I put **Venari Marksrat** with **Martyr Ability** in the first position on my team. My purpose for putting Venari Marksrat in the first position was to increase all Runic Skyclaw's stats by +1 after it died.

- **Martyr Ability** : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Runic%20Skyclaw_lv2.png

**Position 2: RUNIC SKYCLAW**

**Runic Skyclaw** attacks the target with **Ranged Attacks** and has **Flying Ability** and **Snipe Ability** starting at level 1. Although Runic Skyclaw can't attack from the first position, I believed Runic Skyclaw could defend powerfully so I put Runic Skyclaw in the second position. After Venari Marksrat was destroyed, Runic Skyclaw would take the first position.

- **Flying Ability** : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
- **Snipe Ability** : Targets the first enemy Unit with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that is not in the first position.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/soulbound/Berix%20Snakeye_lv1.png

**Position 3: BERIX SNAKEYE**

**Berix Snakeye** attacks the target with ranged attacks and has **Weapons Training Ability** and **Void Armor Ability** at level 1. I put Berix Snakeye in the third position because it had 6 armor, and it was also a great advantage that it attacked the target with 3 ranged attacks.

- **Weapons Training Ability** : Adjacent Units gain half this Unit's attack if they have no attack themselves.
- **Void Armor Ability** : Magic attacks hit this Unit's armor before its Health.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Queen%20of%20Crows_lv3_gold.png

**Position 4: QUEEN OF CROWS**

**Queen of Crows** attacks the target with ranged attacks and has **Close Range Ability** and **Headwinds Ability** at level 3. Thanks to the Headwinds Ability, the Ranged attacks of all enemy Monsters would be reduced by -1. And I put Queen of Crows in fourth position.

- **Close Range Ability** : Units with the Close Range ability can perform ranged attacks from the first position.
- **Headwinds Ability** : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Units by 1.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/soulbound/Ravenhood%20Warden_lv4.png

**Position 5: RAVENHOOD WARDEN**

**Ravenhood Warden** attacks the target with ranged attacks and has **Protect Ability** from level 1. Thanks to the Protect Ability, all monsters on my team would have +2 Armor. The most important reason why I added Ravenhood Warden to my team was because it had the Protect Ability, and I put it in the fifth position.

- **Protect Ability** : All friendly Units gain +2 Armor.

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Raa_lv1.png

**Position 6: RAA**

**Raa** attacks the target with ranged attacks and has **Flying Ability**, **Double Strike Ability** and **Scattershot Ability** at level 1. Since I thought Raa would be very effective in this battle with its Double Strike Ability, I added it to the team and put t in the last position.

- **Flying Ability** : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
- **Double Strike Ability** : This unit attacks twice each round.
- **Scattershot Ability** : Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.

**BATTLE COMMENTS**

**Round 1**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmTQ4ZyhwhKuqCh1ihvmP95e1ygmosuP3zWPMMC9BdYmMk/battle15102023.png)
[Battle Link](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_c0ce1ba36018135236ecd19d0b9b520a&ref=rtonline)

It was noteworthy that our strategy on the front line with the opponent player was similar, let's see who will defend better, Gargoya Devil or Runic Skyclaw.

In the first round, all monsters hit their targets, but reducing the ranged attack of all monsters on the opposing team by -1 twiceworked quite well, otherwise the attacks of monsters on the opposing team could have been much more effective. In the first round, Venari Marksrat, who was on both teams, died. Frankly, this was part of both the opposing player's and my strategy. So this wasn't a huge loss for either team.

**Round 2**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmSpzHvPJpCPuKcvdDuE4cxRWYKDmnRLC9d6JFsjxXt83D/round2.png)

In the second round, the opposing team's Gargoya Devil and my team's Runic Skyclaw took the first position and both managed to evade many attacks, so neither team was very effective in the second round.

**Round 3**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmZqfg5p9PwJsQwRuGDuWHUahijHTEBPftGkfE4W5SYT5A/roundd3.png)

In the third round, although Gargoya Devil evaded some attacks, it could not avoid being destroyed because it only had 4 health. Runic Skyclaw also evaded many attacks, and it was noteworthy that it still had 1 armor at the end of the third round. At the end of the third round, 4 monsters on the opposing team and 5 monsters on my team were still alive.

**Round 4**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmTMzSpF7jPw719kpkf5WgpvyMDDNpzb7Vny9fCHtLRkdt/round4.png)

Runic Skyclaw was doing a really great job defensively, evading a lot of attacks, which prevented the opposing team from being effective. Enemy monsters were able to destroy only Runic Skyclaw's armor.

**Round 5**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmVy9E6XYDsVEm1UTnkAi4EeWtPZpZzZg2kreFfPvf1wTS/round5.png)

It was really difficult to damage high-speed monsters as their speed increased, so many attacks missed them, which meant that the battle would last longer. In the fifth round, another monster from the opposing team was destroyed and 3 monsters remained on the opposing team, but 5 monsters on my team were still alive.

**Round 6**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmNepdbb8DKBnh283QyHiJ9o2z3RbdTSvE9StJbLcbo59N/round6.png)

In the sixth round, another monster from the opposing team was destroyed and only 2 monsters remained on the opposing team, their health was very low, so it would not be difficult to destroy them in the following rounds. Also, Repair Ability was working very well for the opposing team, so it was not easy to destroy the monster in the first position.

**Round 7**

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmZU1FPdy852CoZ8rxwpda988MZWyNKQPz31iLdaowXU1t/round7.png)

In the seventh round, there were only 2 monsters left in the opposing team, and since they had low health, it was not very difficult to destroy them and my team managed to win this battle.

![](https://images.hive.blog/DQmYZqGrcKmWzUKzfF7ARmdoYdKWeWiqERJZQemmQ3WQeNF/round72.png)

The battle lasted 7 rounds, at the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, only Venari Marksrat from my team could be destroyed, which was already a part of my strategy. My strategy worked quite well in this battle and my team won this battle quite easily. In this battle, I can say that reducing the range attack of all ranged attack monsters on the opposing team by -1 twice and using **Runic Skyclaw** in defense was very useful. Especially, I love using Runic Skyclaw in defense in such battles, Runic Skyclaw can really defend against enemies very well. I recommend you to watch this amazing and quite challenging battle from the [Battle Link](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_c0ce1ba36018135236ecd19d0b9b520a&ref=rtonline).
