Having a powerful deck in **Splinterlands** is very important for winning battles, but this alone is not enough. It is much more important to know the cards in your deck well, to understand the rules of the battle well, and to make your team stronger in battles with powerful strategies. Frankly, I think there is no such thing as a weak card, each card has its own characteristics and when used with a good strategy, each of them can be quite effective in some battles. In short, if we know the cards in our deck well and understand their abilities well, we can team up with much stronger strategies. In this way, we can win many battles, even the most difficult ones. I attach great importance to strategy when building a team and I try to create powerful strategies as much as I can. Frankly, my strategies help me a lot to win battles. The highest level summoners in my deck are level 3, and it's not easy to fight with level 6 or even level 8 summoners from the gold league, but defeating them with powerful strategies is not difficult at all. I wanted to share with you one of my quite challenging and quite interesting battles today, I hope you like it.
**BATTLE**

https://youtu.be/yUrcpkmZJJY
 [Battle Link](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_cd53e16a1abd95f47c28ea8e2e3fc76d&ref=rtonline)
Battle Ruleset
Melee Mayhem
Reverse Speed
Mana Cap 56
- **Melee Mayhem rule** means Melee Attack Monsters can attack from any position. - **Reverse Speed rule** means Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
**My Strategy**
Before starting the battle, I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player and they had some pretty powerful cards. I knew that I would be fighting against a level 5 Summoner, especially in this battle, so I had to strategize much more powerful to win this battle. Considering the ruleset of the battle, it was quite difficult for me to predict what kind of strategy the opposing player would team up with, so I had to consider every possibility. The opposing player could choose Magic Attack Monsters, Melee Attack Monsters, and Ranged Attack Monsters in this battle. Also, the battle ruleset had Melee Mayhem and Reverse Speed rules and I would have to create a powerful strategy based on both the battle ruleset and the opposing team.
**Line Up**

https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Thaddius%20Brood_lv3_gold.png

**Summoner :** THADDIUS BROOD
First of all, I chose **THADDIUS BROOD** as the **Summoner** because the opposing player might prefer **Magic Attack Monsters**. Thanks to **THADDIUS BROOD**, **all enemy Magic Attack Monsters** have **-1 Magic Attack** and **all enemy Monsters** have **-1 health**. But the opposing player could have opted for **Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters** as well, so I had to take other possibilities into account, and I'll do it with Monsters.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Cursed%20Windeku_lv2_gold.png

**Position 1:** CURSED WINDEKU
I added **CURSED WINDEKU** with the **Thorns Ability** to my team, taking into account that there might be **Melee Attack Monsters** on the opposing team and put it in the first position. **CURSED WINDEKU** with **the Thorns Ability** does damage back to the attacker when hit with a Melee attack. This will make it easier to destroy enemy **Melee Attack Monsters**, I will also add a **Monster with the Amplify Ability** to my team to increase Thorns damage. Also, **CURSED WINDEKU** attacks the target with 2 Melee Attacks. - **Thorns Ability** : When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker. - **Amplify Ability** : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Djinn%20Muirat_lv1.png

**Position 2:** DJINN MUIRAT
I put **DJINN MUIRAT** with **Void Armor Ability** and **Knock Out Ability** in second position on the team. The most important reason why I added him to my team and put him in second position was because he has **the Void Armor Ability**. Thanks to his Void Armor Ability, all monsters had to destroy his armor before they could damage his health. Also, **DJINN MUIRAT** attacks the target with **2 Magic Attacks**. - **Void Armor Ability** : Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health. - **Knock Out Ability** : Does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Disintegrator_lv4_gold.png

**Position 3:** DISINTEGRATOR
I put **DISINTEGRATOR** with **Demoralize Ability** in third position on the team. The most important reason I added it to my team was because it has **the Demoralize Ability**. Thanks to its Demoralize Ability, Disintegrator reduces the Melee Attack of all enemy Melee Attack Monsters by -1. The reason I put the Disintegrator in third position in this battle was to keep it away from the opposing team's first attacks. Because in such a battle, the early destruction of the Disintegrator would break my strategy. Also, Disintegrator attacks the target with 2 Melee Attacks. - **Demoralize Ability** : Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Cabalist_lv1.png

**Position 4:** CABALIST
**CABALIST** is a Monster that attacks the target with 2 Magic Attacks and has **the Amplify Ability**. This battle also put him in fourth position on my team. The most important reason I added Cabalist to my team was because he has the Amplify Ability. Because with his Amplify Ability, **CABALIST** would be able to increase Thorns' damage to all enemy monsters by 1. Since Cabalist only has 5 health, I put him in fourth position because it was very important to my strategy that he stays away from enemy attacks and not destroyed. - **Amplify Ability** : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Dhampir%20Stalker_lv3.png

**Position 5:** DHAMPIR STALKER
**DHAMPIR STALKER** is a powerful Monster with **the True Strike Ability** that can attack the target with 3 Ranged Attacks. Thanks to his True Strike Ability, Dhampir Stalker's attacks can't miss which was very important in a battle like this. I put him in fifth position on my team. Putting him in the fifth position was a bit of a risk, but it was the best position for him in a team like this. - **True Strike Ability** : This Monster's attacks cannot miss.
https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Night%20Ghoul_lv1.png

**Position 6:** NIGHT GHOUL
**NIGHT GHOUL** is a very powerful Monster that attacks the target with 4 Melee Attacks and has **the Taunt Ability**. **The battle ruleset** had **the Reverse Speed rule** so in this battle it would be a big advantage if **Monsters had low speed**. **Night Ghoul** only has **1 speed**. The most important reason I added him to my team in this battle was because he has **1 speed** and has **the Taunt Ability**. In this battle, enemy monsters would target him, and since he only had 1 speed, Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters could miss him. I thought this would give my team a big advantage in this battle. I put Night Ghoul in the last position in my team. I usually put monsters with the Taunt Ability in either the first position or the last position. Because I don't want monsters with Blast Ability on the opposing team to increase the damage they do to my team. I consider this possibility in every battle. - **Taunt Ability** : All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to).
**Battle Comments**
**Round 1**

To be honest, the opposing player's strategy was pretty good too. If I hadn't paid attention to **speed** in this battle and added **Thorns, Amplify, and Taunt Ability Monsters** to my team, this battle would have been pretty tough for my team. The back damage he took after the attack of the melee monster, who was in the first position on the opposing team in the first round, was remarkable. Also, the fact that the monsters on the opposing team missed the Night Ghoul many times gave my team a big advantage.

Night Ghoul managed to evade 4 out of 5 Ranged Attacks, which was truly admirable. This is a big disadvantage for the opposing team, but it has been a big advantage for my team. **Round 2**

The second round was very similar to the first round, my team kept attacking mercilessly while the monsters on the opposing team continued to miss many attacks. My strategy was working really well. **Round 3**

It was remarkable that Night Ghoul was still alive in the 3rd round in a 56 mana battle. The opposing team had lost their Melee Attack Monsters and all the monsters were still alive in my team and things were not going well for the opposing team. Even though the opposing team managed to destroy the Night Ghoul in the third round, it was too hard for them to win anymore. If I had used a monster with Triage Ability in such a battle, the opposing team would not be able to destroy the Night Ghoul, frankly, before the battle, I thought about adding the monster with the Triage Ability to my team, but I did not decide which monster to remove, so I gave up on adding it. - **Triage Ability** : Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage. **Round 4**

In the fourth round, there were only 2 Monsters left on the opposing team and they didn't even get a chance to attack.

**Battle Results**

The battle lasted 4 rounds and I can clearly say that all the monsters in the team played an important role in winning this battle. My strategy worked pretty well in this battle. To be honest, the opposing player's strategy was pretty good too, but my strategy worked much better. Especially the monsters I added to my team were quite appropriate for this battle. This made it easier for my team to win the battle. I recommend you to watch this great battle and the excellent performance of my team from the video or the [battle link](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_cd53e16a1abd95f47c28ea8e2e3fc76d&ref=rtonline)
**My opinion**
Having a powerful deck is of course very important in Splinterlands, but the strategy we set before the battle is even more important. With powerful strategies in battles, we can provide great advantages to our team. Frankly, the strategies I set help me win many battles. That's why I care about strategy. On the other hand, I do my best to strengthen my deck. I also suffer greatly from not having a monster with the Tank Heal Ability in the Death Unit. In the future, when I level up my Summoners to level 5, I may plan to buying the level 5 TORTISIAN CHIEF or level 3 CORRUPTED PEGASUS. - **Tank Heal Ability** : Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round. Also, my strategy worked so well that this battle, my team dominated the battle. I hope you like it, thank you for reading. @rtonline What are your thoughts on the battle?
