I notice that many of the people I talk to who are just getting on Steemit are wondering what type of content to post. With many platforms there's a certain culture or certain type of content that gets posted more  than other stuff. Youtube is pretty diverse but a site like VidMe for example is heavily geared towards gaming and animation. 

I feel like Steemit has a pretty diverse selection of content, everything from homesteading to gaming to current events to various people's hobbies and interests.

I enjoy all types of content on Steemit but decided I'd make a post giving some examples of content I tend to consume on Reddit and Youtube and if anyone out there is looking for types of content to make or content ideas here's a few I'd probably enjoy checking out and which will probably earn an upvote from me.

**1. Documentaries**

I'm a sucker for weird obscure documentaries. My girlfriend often tells me I'll watch anything lol. I especially like adventure documentaries, a recent one I watched was called the Barkley Marathon about this 100 mile race through hills and mountains and brush. I really like sailing documentaries like "Chasing Bubbles" or "8 And One Dog" or "Hold Fast". Another kind of wierd or obscure one I watched recently was "The Parking Lot" about some dudes who work in a paid parking lot. I love wierd documentaries and would love to see a documentary maker come on here and post some content, even short form documentaries.

**2. Motivational & Inspirational Stuff**

I'm very into the self improvement space things like Les Brown, Jim Rohn, Art Williams, even compilations of motivational speeches and things like that turned into a video. I love stuff like this and it's sure to earn an upvote from me.

**3. Stories About People Hitting The Reset Button On Life**

Right now in my life I'm doing some self assessment kind of asking myself questions like am I happy with what I'm doing with my life? Why am I living where I'm living, should I get out and explore and experience more. I've seen some really interesting posts on here about people who've quit thier jobs and lived out of a van for a year, traveled, moved to the wilderness and lived off the grid. Doesn't even necessarily have to be anything that extreme, could be leaving a job and moving across the country to a new area, basically just looking for stories from people who have had the balls to make a dramatic shift in their life or lifestyle, I'd love to hear some of those stories.

**4. Stocks, Personal Finance, Cryptocurrencies and Investing**

On Reddit I spend a lot of time in the subreddits about cryptos, personal finance, investing, stocks, etc. Whether it be reviews of platforms like Lending Club or Prosper or Wealthfront or Betterment. Personal finance tips, stock picks. I enjoy this type of content and it's likely to earn an upvote from me. 

**5. Hobbies, Introducing People To Your Hobbies**

I have a tendency to get quick obsessions with hobbies. Some of them stick around for the long term while others are things I just find fascinating, research 24/7 for weeks and never actually take up but enjoy hearing about them. This could be anything from gardening to glass blowing to throwing pottery to wood working. Do you have a hobby? Do you create something? Are you into rockclimbing or bouldering or sailing? I love hearing about people's hobbies and would like to see more of this.

**6. How To Videos**

How to videos for most people are probably more practical than entertaining ie how to hang outdoor lights at your house, how to build a deck, how to do just about anything. Not only are they practical but as someone who's curious about a lot of different stuff I actually find them both educational and entertaining. If you make a video about how to do anything I'm likely to watch it. 

**7. Content About Different Cultures (Sociology)**

There's a ton of interesting cultures around the world. I remember recently reading an article about this culture in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico and like every person young and old, man and women are all long distance runners. They can run a marathon or two in a day like nothing. There's tons of different and very interesting cultures thorughout the world and I love learning about them. 

**8. Steemit Education &  How To's**

I'm about 20 days in on Steemit but learning more and more every day I'm on here. I now this site is currently experiencing a huge influx in it's userbase and I'm sure many other people don't  know how to do things like post photos, how to structure posts, how to convert steem to steem power, how to power up, how to power down. Basically would like to see posts teaching myself and others how to do stuff on this platform.

**9. Business & Entrepreneurship**

I think in this day and age it's important everyone have multiple streams of income. It doesn't matter if you view yourself as an Entrepreneur or not, I think having multiple streams of income is the key to the future and also the key to financial security. I love business and entrepreneurship, everything from publishing books, creating digital courses, affiliate marketing, Amazon Merch, eCommerce. This is what I do for a living and what my Youtube channel is about but I like keeping on the cutting edge of new trends and opportuntiies and love consuming this type of content. Make good content in this niche and you're sure to get an upvote from me.

**10. Travel Content**

I've seen some great travel adventures posted here on Steemit and enjoy consuming this type of content on Reddit and Youtube as well. Have you traveled to an interesting place? Do you want to take us on a tour of your  city or maybe some park or natural wonder in your area? I love watching and reading about this type of stuff and it's likely to get an upvote from me.
