I'm Connor and i'm a 22 year old History major at a university in Texas. In my free time I like adventuring, reading, and socializing at bars within walking distance of my apartment. I'm a PADI certified diver, and I've been to 11 states and 3 countries but am dying to see more. My life goal is to build a comfortable amount of wealth in friends, money and experiences, as well as to leave behind a useful and respectable body of work with my name on it.

http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u533/Conner_Miller/IMG_3301_zpsoimlgw6i.jpg

Although i'm sure you'll see plenty of normal, ho-hum blog posts on here. I plan to use Steemit primarily to gain insight and critiques on the many writing assignments i'll be doing this upcoming semester (particularly in the areas of structure and grammar). While many of my peers and professors can and do give me helpful pointers on my essays, Steemit has the inimitable advantage of being somewhat anonymous, so I believe I can count on an unfiltered, no-holds-barred reaction to my work. As Oscar Wilde said, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.”

I first heard about Steemit from a neighbor who lives in my building. I've been messing around with bitcoin for a bit, and the idea of a blockchain-based social-media website where anyone's posts are able to rise in popularity based on merit is very enticing. Because Print Journalism is in decline, Steemit gives me a feeling of optimism that the skill set i've built over the last few years will indeed net me a bit of recognition, which always feels good.

I hope that you'll stick around, let us help each other out, make new connections and learn how a community as unique as this can function. Full Steem Ahead!
