The lunar eclipse in Arabic is called "khusuf". In Islam when the phenomenon occurs lunar eclipse we are encouraged to do the salat sunah two rak'ah or also called salat sunna khusuf.
Scholars agree that this sunnah prayer sunnah muakkad law is good for men or women.

Regarding the meaning of the command to pray the eclipse is actually the secret of God.

However, it is widely interpreted that the purpose of worship is to admire the power of God, an extraordinary eclipse.

On the other hand worship is also disyariatkan to refute the myth that occurred in the time of the Prophet, that the eclipse concerns with the death of a person.
"Therefore, let us all as Muslims perform this sunna worship as proof of our admiration for the greatness of God capable of twisting the earth, the moon, and the sun along with other planets,"
