 For this week's #sublimesunday, as inspired by @c0ff33a, my family decided to go for a Father's Day hike. The forest we opted to visit was nearby our home and nestled between the local bluffs. Thanks to a decent breeze, the hike was fairly bug free and comfortable. It also yielded some fun Father's Day forest finds I thought I'd share.  The first magical find were tons of red fungi on the forest floor. I think they are called Scarlett Elfcups, and they were scattered all over the forest.  <br>  <br>  The little bit of research I did on the fungi mentions they might be "suspect." No foraging or sampling is required! The next thing we noticed was the old, dead trees that had insect marks along their cambium. The woodpeckers in the area go to town on these trees. I find the markings reminiscent of hieroglyphics, or some alien code. Who knows, maybe even a bit of Gnostic symbols.  <br>  <br>  <br>  We even managed to stumble across a few oxeye daisies in bloom. They are certainly beginning to spread once again.  <br>  All in all, it was another perfect day for a family hike. I know some areas of the world are struggling right now with inadequate rain and hot temperatures, and I realize how lucky we are to live in an area with some much vegetation and life.  Blue skies, cool breeze, little bugs, and a day outside with my family. I couldn't ask for a better Father's Day present than that!
