**The Crecopia Tree is also known as The Trumpet Tree or Guarumo. There are five different types here in Costa Rica. They are fast growing trees, increasing in size by as much as four meters in a year. The fruit is edible for humans, and has been nick-named Gummy Bear fruit. Decoctions of the leaves are used for kidney problems, high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, bronchitis and for nervous disorders. Sloths are often to be seen in the branches eating the flowers or just sleeping.** **The trunks are hollow and are home to Azteca ants. The ants have a nasty bite and attack any herbivores that try to steal the leaves from the tree. The ants themselves feed on glycogen that the tree produces in egg shaped packages called Müllerian bodies that form on the leaf stems. The hollow trunks are sometimes split in half and used as rainwater guttering for houses. They are a light wood type which has also been used to make matchsticks and paper pulp.** These were taken using my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS **Namaste** # Do not seek love.
