Supervising my 3 Hectares Cassava Farm and what it could do to reduce Hunger in the Rural Areas + 5 Products that can be Extracted from the Cassava Plant
During late last year and early this year we had the planting season just like it has begun now. I decided to go into cassava production. It's financial demanding to cultivate farm up to 3 hectares of farmland, although I didn't purchase any land because the land is owned by my father. Clearing of farmland, planting, weeding and re-weeding is a very cumbersome task. I got money from a corporative society and added the money I have saved to cultivate the farm. Greetings from @salvadornkpara.

Cassava is a very special and important plant in Nigeria, although it's not orthodox to Nigeria it was shipped to Africa from South America during the slave trade era. Today it has become a plant valued by most Nigerians because of the numerous products that could be gotten from the cassava plant. My cassava farm doesn't have any artificial fertilizer on the soil before planting this is because where I come from we still practice bush fallow system or shifting cultivation. The farm after a planting season was allowed to stay for another 7 years before anyone goes back to farm on it allowing the farm to fallow naturally. When the farm is returned, it must have gathered enough nutrients through dead plants and animals.

During my visit today, I was convinced that the harvest will be very fruitful because of the way the cassava have survived and are looking matured just waiting for about 3 months more for harvest. Something fascinating happened today. I killed a snake in the farm today. At first I was a bit scared but with the machete in my hand I was able to kill the snake.

Finally, it's nice seeing that my labor in planting this huge cassava farm is not in vein. There was a lot of rainfall this year and this would've destroyed my cassava but it stood the test of time. Have you planted cassava before, if you've not done that before it's an interesting activity to venture into. Thanks for viewing my post.
